August So Far

Hello everyone , as I finally sit down to draft this post I find it hard to believe it is now the 18th. August, where has the month gone.

I have also been busy in my garden pruning the last of the roses and generally weeding and tidying up as we head towards Spring . We have signs that Spring will arrive early this year , most of the bulbs are flowering at least two weeks ahead and my large magnolia tree is already coming in to bloom as are the camellias . Winter has been wet but milder with just a few frosts.

I also have had my second Covid vaccination with no side effects at all . Australia is way behind with vaccinations compared to many countries but that is another story.

Last Tuesday  John and I travelled to Hobart to join our son Zac to celebrate his birthday , he turned 34 on the 8th. , seems like yesterday we welcomed him into the world.

We joined Zac for lunch at a Japanese restaurant , Bar Wa Izakaya, in the city. Stepping inside reminded us of being back in Japan . A return visit to Japan for the Autumn colours is on our list for the future .

I wore my black floral velvet Kenzo jacket , a recycle find in Melbourne a few years ago paired with my old favourite Moyuru skirt. I love this jacket and know I will wear it forever but I did chuckle when we collected little Harry from day care and he announced that Mimi (me) was wearing her jammies(pyjamas). Out of the mouths of babes , his Mummy must have floral PJ’s I forgot to ask.

We didn’t take outfit photos on the day so as I wore it again yesterday , be with a couple of additions , and took photos in the garden. I added the green wool turban style hat that has been with me a few Winters now , orange gloves bought in Paris in 2016 , an orange necklace , Preston Zly white and black boots and red floral tights and cream sunnies.

Joining Jess at Elegantly Dressed and Stylish , Gail at Is This Mutton for Wow on Wednesday , Jacqui for Mummabystylish and Nancy for Fancy Friday.

Happy birthday to your son. Yes, where has the time gone right. And what do toddlers know about fashion, lol. A turban looks so very good on you, beautiful colour too.

Thank you Nancy , no idea where that time has gone. True toddlers have not a clue about fashion . The green of my turban is my favourite colour.

Your outfit is absolutely fabulous, I’m loving that floral velvet Kenzo jacket in particular.
I’m happy to hear you’ve had your second vaccination!
Happy birthday to your son! Time does fly, doesn’t it? Jos’s oldest is turning 50 in a couple of days’ time. Hard to get one’s head around that.
It’s always exciting to watch the garden come to life in Spring. Ours is a bit over the hill with all the rain we’ve had, and is looking quite Autumnal already! xxx

Thank you Ann , I know you too love a dark floral. This was one of those very lucky finds in Melbourne a few years ago.I was pleased to finally get my second vaccination too.
Time certainly does fly , it sure is hard to get your head around the ages of the adult children.
I agree Spring in the garden is always such a joy. xxx

Your Kenzo jacket is gorgeous – I love a dark floral! I would keep it forever too. Tasmania has done really well during the pandemic, and it must be nice to go to Hobart to celebrate with your son. Queensland has done well too, but we are on edge with the NSW border. Your green hat is stunning, so chic.

Thank you so much Patricia , we both share a love of dark florals. So far Tasmania has been lucky with the pandemic , that stretch of water separating us from the mainland states and we have a much smaller population. Yes you have also done well in Queensland but the state border must be a concern. The green hat was made by a talented young milliner based in The Blue Mountains.

Your outfit is a feast for the eyes Jill. Beautiful colours in the jacket and hat. Your spring is early and it seems our autumn is! I am waiting for the spring bulbs to arrive and will plant them soon. Thanks for linking at #WowOnWednesday x

Thank you so much Gail , always my pleasure to join your link up. The colours in both the jacket and hat are a nod to Spring. It is a bit early for your Autumn and bulb planting , and for you especially after a so so Summer.
