Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.
Today is the first day of Spring in Australia and as often is the case in Tasmania we are greeted with a cool cloudy day with light showers. I am not complaining as apparently, Winter was the warmest on record . No wonder most of my favourite Winter coats remain unworn.

Spring for me is always about the awakening of the plants in the garden after their Winter slumber. At present the magnolias , camellias and bulbs are adding colour as well as these delightful violas in a pot near my back door. I have a soft spot for pansies and violas with their dear little faces.I have spent many hours in the garden lately trying to get on top of the weeds that have loved the warmer Winter.

Last Friday John and I joined our MG Car Club friends for a country drive to the Ashgrove Dairy cafe for morning tea . It was a bit of a red letter day for John as it was the first time since his hip replacement that he drove his Mazda MX5 and had no trouble getting in and out of the car.
I was rather taken with the colourful fibreglass cows in the background as I had admired from the road driving past many times but hadn’t seen them up close before.

It was a fine , sunny day so we made the most of the day and stopped at the town of Deloraine for lunch at a lovely little cafe. After our lunch we strolled along the river front which has various art works. I was also keen to check out the flowering cherry trees but it was too early so I hope to return in a couple of weeks.

My outfit for the day was a mix of older pieces from my wardrobe , the Moyuru skirt is now about ten years old and was worn with an Asian style top that I bought secondhand a couple of years ago, red Trippen shoes , patterned socks in cream, red and black and a Moyuru hat that I bought in Tokyo on my last trip to Japan.

I was about to head out to meet my friend , Janet for tea and much talk and asked John for a quick photo as was as is typical for me running a little late . In fact when I arrived Joel at the cafe mentioned that I was fashionably late as usual. Are you an early or late arriver? Janet on the other hand always arrives fifteen minutes early and is always surprised if I am on time.

My favourite colours, black and white , were my choice for this outfit . I paired my long Dogstar white shirt with Moyuru pants and added a much loved Paula Ryan black wool jacket , Fly London shoes, a black hat, black sunnies and black and white earrings and bangles.
Joining Gail at Is This Mutton for Tuesday Twirl.
That car is perfect for a country drive and wow, what a beautiful photograph of your flowers! We are hoping for cooler weather here, but this week is still definitely summer!

Thank you so very much Mirielle . Spring has arrived down here with its Spring flowers. No doubt you are hoping for a few cooler days after your hot Summer.
Travelling in an open roof MG is such fun, my husband used to have one and we enjoyed taking it for a ride. Love your outfits, they truly show your aesthetics and unique style

Thank you so very much Anna , I do enjoy putting my outfits together. An open top sports car is fun depending on the weather.
Hurray that John is able to get into his car! That’s wonderful news. We are still at the height of summer even though fall is really just around the corner as far as the calendar is concerned. Many of my plants have kinda given up the ghost as it’s just been so hot. I also haven’t been able to keep up with watering them so that didn’t help. I love this outfit! You are just the best dressed woman, Jill! I really love the combinations you come up with! I try so hard to be on time but am usually just a few minutes late…I like fashionably late better so will start using that now. I am, however, always early for my times at the museum.

Thank you so very much Marsha . John and I are both so pleased he is back driving again as to be honest he is a dreadful passenger.
Shame about your plants but it is so hard to keep the water up in very hot and dry Summers and it is predicted we may face the same.
So pleased I am not the only one that is fashionably late.
Fantastic outfits as usual and it’s Spring! We are at the end of the long hot summer and I don’t mind the rain at all. I am so pleased about John’s progress. I have been told I cannot get into the car for 6 weeks – gosh that is a long time. But apparently it’s all about keeping the knees down and from going above 90 degrees. My legs are long so no way can I not bend them!
Love the hats 🙂

Thank you so very much Penny . I can imagine how welcome the rain has been after your long and dry Summer.
John didn’t get the same advice about getting into the car just not driving .Just as well as not sure how he would have come home otherwise.
I’m going to have hospital transport – not sure what that entails though!

That is interesting how your system is different.
