Hello everyone and a Happy New Year.
I have never been one to bother with New Year’s resolutions – life is just too short .
That said I have given thought about my intentions on a number of things that are in my control. The first of these relates to my wardrobe and wearing what I have in different ways. I also will be wearing what I like regardless of the occasion just because (I can). I am very much in the mind set if not now -when?
Today I decided to Summerize the Dogstar black and white skirt with its extra large spots that I bought back in the Winter . I simply paired it with a Viktoria & Woods top from many summers ago , added black and white Trippen sandals , a mix of black and white bangles , white rubber earrings, a necklace from Jianhu London made from recycled materials and black Dior sunnies.
I am also committed to buying better and buying less . Last year I rashly announced I would only buy six new garments . Well , how did that work out you ask. To be honest I ended up with nine new things including this skirt and the matching bomber jacket , two shirts , cord pants , the pink skirt I wore last post , a coat , the cream linen jacket and a pink top. All of these will mix and match with what I already own and will be worn for many years to come.
Also as a lover of shoes and despite my little casual job at the House of Shoes I am being careful to not yield to temptation as I really do not need any more shoes or boots for that matter- wish me luck.
On the home front as per last year’s word of the year renovations of the garden will continue with more culling of overgrown plants and trimming some trees , restoring the gravel paths and hopefully repainting the Summer house and generally making the garden easier to manage. There are also plans to refurbish our bathroom.
Some travel plans are afoot starting with a few days in Melbourne followed by a road trip to Adelaide in early March. We hope to travel overseas later this year to Malta, Sicily and Corfu , all things going well .
My main aim for this year is to stay healthy and make the most of each day enjoying what brings me joy and that includes spending time with those special people in my life.
I will finish up now as Raffy is demanding his walk.
Joining Gail at Is This Mutton for Tuesday Twirl.

Happy New Year, Jill! That skirt with the polka dots on speed is incredible, what a statement!
How exciting your travels plans sound – Corfu being one of my favourite places and Malta, my brother’s.
If you haven’t already, I recommend you read Lawrence Durrell’s Sicillian Carousel and Prospero’s Cell along with his brother Gerald’s My Family and Other Animals, to get you in the mood! xxx

Thank you so very much Vix and a happy New Year to you and Jon.
Polka dots on speed is the best description ever.
I so appreciate the book suggestions and will try to source them through the library. xx
This year my goal is to work on my health and be more consistent in reducing sugar in my diet. This is one beautiful skirt!

I am sure you will be a great success with your health goals. Thank you Mirielle , I love this skirt.
If you hadn’t said this was a winter skirt, I wouldn’t have known it! I love that white top, but that necklace is amazing! Good luck with the renovations of the garden. And, traveling to Corfu, Sicily, and Malta sounds wonderful!

The skirt was a part of a Winter collection but the designer is based in the northern state of Queensland with very mild Winters. I have had the necklace for a few years now and it makes quite a statement. At present it is far too hot for me to work in the garden much . Hopefully the trip will happen later this year.
That’s such a beautiful outfit Jill. Love that skirt as it is so dramatic. Yay, yes we wear what we want, when we want – and just because!
Our winter is in full swing and much rain is coming our way so it is winter clothes for us now. Enjoy the summer Jill, and your glorious roses – and Raffy!

Thank you so very much Penny . I must admit to falling for the volume and drama of this skirt . I do plan to wear and do what I want just because going forward.
I had seen that Winter was well and truly upon you just as we are in a heatwave down here.
You did pretty well with 9 new things. I keep a list of all my buys and it was quite a few more than that, although hoping to rein it in this year and wear what’s in my wardrobe! I love that skirt, it’s so flamboyant and dramatic. It’s great in the northern hemisphere to see you wearing summer clothes as it’s the reverse for us. The necklaces are spectacular!

Thank you so very much Gail glad to bring Summer your way. I plan to continue along the same path this year and really only add items that I really need as opposed to want and be more adventurous with what I already own.
