Renewing My Love of Hats

Hello everyone, hope all is well in your part of the world.

Last week John and I enjoyed a night away in Hobart. The main reason for this was to see how Raffy would cope at the boarding kennels since his accident. I am pleased to report that all went extremely well and he enjoyed his time in the quiet area.

As the title of this post suggests I am so enjoying my renewed love of wearing hats now that my hair is back to my old bob hairstyle which always works well with hats. This was my outfit for the first day in Hobart taken in our hotel room just before we were heading out to dinner at Mezethenes , a Greek restaurant that we have been going to for many years. I wore my all-time favourite Moyuru skirt with a Paule Ka black knit, orange gloves , Trippen navy boots and an interesting orange beret made by the appropriately named Felt Happiness as it always makes me happy when I wear it.

After breakfast at one of our old haunts in Battery Point we headed back to Salamanca Place for a wander around before heading home. On our way to dinner the previous evening I had spotted this store Miss Haidee Millinery and of course was keen to explore further. I certainly wasn’t disappointed and may have come home with two new purchases for my hat collection.

I am wearing my second new purchase of the year that I found the day before at Allstyle , a new pair of Moyuru pants that I paired with a black knit and Caroline Moore cropped leather jacket, multi coloured beads , black gloves , red Trippen shoes and a Moyuru hat that I bought in Tokyo on our last trip.

Admiring the pretty hats in this section of the shop. I can imagine these gracing the heads of well dressed ladies at horse racing carnivals throughout Australia.

The store really was a hat lovers dream and I shared that love with a delightful young lady in the store who was also in awe of the variety of hats. I discovered Freyah was an arts student at The University of Tasmania. Freyah also kindly took these photos of me , you can tell she is arty. I also did the same for Freyah but nowhere near as creatively . Freyah asked me about wearing hats and feeling confident doing so and I shared my thoughts and I was so chuffed when she sent me a photo of her in a hat that she hadn’t worn out before.

On my return home I had fun playing with outfits to compliment one of my new hats.I started with this multi layered Dogstar tulle skirt worn with a linen jacket adorned with a rosette brooch that I found in Hobart , cream boots and leopard gloves and as much as I love this skirt it is a bit much and rather too long for every day but perfect for a special occasion.

Have a good week everyone and many thanks for reading .

Oh my word, Jill, those first two hats are absolutely my kind of hat. The black and white one and the orange one, both are equally splendid. They are gorgeous, along with your other items in each outfit.

We do have a millinery in Lewes but it’s not quite up to the standard of the one you visited.

Btw, I bought 3 hats in Norway, one on the ship and two in Norway – in Flam and Skolden. You will see them soon. They were all cosy hats for the weather there.

You have a real skill for styling and wearing hats Jill. I just love the orange hat with the navy, it really showcases the colour and shape. Miss Haidee Millinery looks like a real Aladdin’s Cave. I adore hats but they don’t love me, my hair is wrong for them. Thanks for linking and have a great rest of week.

Thank you so very much Gail , it is always my pleasure to join your link up. I do like to wear the orange hat with navy as I think it makes it so more interesting. The hat shop had so many temptations.

Thank you so very much Mirielle , I rather like the structure of a jacket paired with the more feminine tulle skirt. Yes there were so many temptations in the hat shop.

Jill, I can totally see why you grew your hair out into your bob. It truly is quintessentially you! And, the color definitely suits you. Your new pants are just fabulous. But, I have to admit that photo of the wall of hats…oh, my goodness! It is breathtaking! I don’t think I could even begin to make a choice. Each and every one of them was a masterpiece in millinery. I do believe this is the first time I’ve seen a photo of you looking straight at the camera. You look like you should be in a painting by Renoir or maybe Matisse if he toned down the colors just a bit. I can’t wait to see your other new purchase. And, I’m so glad Raffy did well at the boarder.
