Anything goes is my new Spring motto and I so enjoyed playing in my closet and combining old favourites to create a new outfit. Lots of layering was involved , a Paula Ryan tiered skirt over Nicola Waite pants , topped by a tulle apron. The other thing I realised later was that all of my clothing was designed and made in Australia or New Zealand.
The only new item is the tulle apron from Dogstar Clothing , an Australian designer based in Brisbane.I saw this on Instagram and was quite smitten as I knew it would be a fun addition to my wardrobe. The tulle is gathered in three panels so it can be worn many different ways. There are also a variety of ties and laces as a fun addition to the design.
Polka dots are always a lot of fun to wear , they just make me smile. This little mesh cardigan by Paula Ryan was a recycle find , I loved the bright pink trim.
Following my anything goes motto was a mix of accessories , a sparkly belt , a recycle find a couple of years ago, a mix of pink, black and white bangles and black and white faux pearls , a birthday gift a few years back and a new black and white headband.
Would I have worn an outfit like this as a younger woman , probably not, but that really is the joy of ageing you dress to please yourself and are happy to experiment .

I think a lot of us grow more confident as we get older! I definitely try more new things, am more aware of trends and am developing my own sense of style! You pull off this look with your confidence and I really like that tulle skirt with the pants!

Thanks so much Mireille , I did have some fun with this outfit. Glad to hear you too are enjoying new styles and finding your own style.
Oh darn, my comment disappeared as I was typing… Anyway, I Luv it all!!! And I agree totally with your sentiment of anything goes, especially as I grow older. You look absolutely fantastic in your ensemble. The tulle over pants is genius. I’ll have to look up Dogstar to see how that works as an apron. I am so smitten.

Dont you just hate that when your comments disappeared- thought it was just me. I find I am far more willing to play and experiment these days. The tulle apron really appealed to me as a bit of whimsy to add to any outfit. I am sure with your clever creative skills it would be an easy thing to make. Many thanks Pao.
Oh I love it! I used to experiment a lot with my clothing in my teens and twenties. But I have always worn what i love! If I would have adjusted to people here, I would wear jeans every day! No way!!

Many thanks Nancy. I guess I am much the same as I always wore what i liked even it was different from others. Although I do find I am playing more these days.
Hi Jill!
I love this retro look with a twist! Just wonderful! I am often told I am an expert at accessorizing, but I think you hold the title! I love the details you add to your outfits, very thoughtful. The black and white necklace with the polka dots and the hair accessory. Love the bangles! I think the pants look great under the tulle skirt, unexpected and fun!
Have a great day!

Many thanks Jess , I enjoyed playing with these pieces. I think we both understand the difference accessories can make to change our outfits and love finding different ones.
Many thanks for hosting Jess.
I love the pink and black together and this is such great layering! I’ve never seen a tulle skirt over pants before but it works so well on you!
Hope that your week is off to a great start 🙂 Thanks for joining the #weekdaywearlinkup!

Thank you so much Mica, I had fun putting this together. I hope your week is also going well , many thanks for hosting.
Such a fun outfit! I used to play around and experiment more with my wardrobe in my twenties (as a fashion design student, it was sort of ‘mandatory’…), but I’ve become much more of a minimalist and pragmatist as I get older. But this reminds me that style can be a lot of fun, too.

Thank you Tiina , it is fun to play with style too as we age. I can only imagine the creative styling you did in your fashion design student days. I firmly believe each of us should follow our hearts and do what suits us at any given time.
I’m so with you, the older we get the less we care about fitting in and conforming to how we’re supposed to be. I love what you’re wearing – I always do! x

Many thanks Vix , this outfit was one very much in the vein of wearing what I enjoy rather than the outmoded ideas of how a woman of a certain age should dress.
