Grape and Magnolia

One of the joys of my Spring garden is the blooming of this Magnolia. I planted it nearly 40 years ago and every year it rewards me with its beauty as well as filling the air with its scent.

The grape in the post title refers to the colour of this cropped Bec and Bridge jacket. I have had this little recycled jacket for some time and am fond of the style of it with its blanket stitch edging but not so sure about its colour on me. Maybe its time to pass it on – I will decide when I do a seasonal change over.

Time for a walk on a cool but sunny Spring day- this area is by the river and always a pleasant walk.

The jacket was paired with one of my Moyuru skirts. This particular skirt is a combination of black, navy and grey , in plain and stripes. I had intended to wear a pair of pants that I bought last Summer and had not worn since but to my surprise and delight they were too big . I am not strictly dieting more just eating healthily and watching my portions.

I have also re-acquainted myself with weight training , something I have done off and on for many years.,you can tell by my well used weights and dog eared book. I have a collection of DVD’s by Joyce Vedral , who was very big in the U.S. in the 90’s , that I find suit me . Joyce is now 76 and still in great shape , inspiration indeed.  My main aim is to strengthen my muscles and help my bones , something so important as we age .

Just wondering where does time go – September 11th. is my 43rd. wedding anniversary. John and I will celebrate over lunch at Mud our favourite restaurant and maybe a glass of bubbles.

Oh you will love the work out! After a few months……but it is so much better for your body. I havn’t worked out for two weeks because of the holiday and I feel everything hurts in my body! I love a Magnolia, we have them too and I can’t wait to see it bloom, it only blooms always so short!

Thank you so much Elizabeth. The Magnolia is always a delightful start to Spring, thats the joy of a garden , the gift that keeps on giving.
As for the weight training, I do try to be consistent and train in the morning but more often than not , its just finding a time in the day. I would highly recommend it for bone denseity.

Took such delight in your Magnolia. Enjoyed a similar tree in my yard in Chicago suburbs. Miss it since I’ve lived in Florida for four years. Such different flora & fauna… Thanks for sharing. PS love your style!

Thank you Jean for taking the time to comment. Magnolias are such beautiful specimens in full bloom , even if there beauty is only ever fleeting. I can only imagine the differences in flora and fauna between Chicago and Florida.

Happy anniversary! 43 years, that’s wonderful.
I think the grape jacket suits you (and the beautiful Magnolia tree), but I can understand that if the colour doesn’t feel ‘right’, then it’s time to let it go.

Thank you so much Tiina for the anniversary wishes. I will admit to still being unsure about the little jacket, maybe you are right on that score.

    Hi Jill!
Love those circular sunnies, you have the best collection! The rich purple jacket looks wonderful with the higher waisted full skirt. Love ! We have a fair amount of Magnolis trees around here , yours are beautiful! Ive been able to plant this year -roses and azaleas so I am excited to see them grow.
I bought kettlebells this year to weight train, have to lift lighter to build more upper body strength.
    thanks for linking!

Thank you Jess , I do love my sunnies they add a point of difference to my outfits but are also practical as I am finding I am becoming more sensitive to light these days.
I can just imagine the beautiful Magnolias in your area. I hope your roses and azaleas do well for you.
I haven’t tried kettle bells for weight training so I will be interested to see how they work for you.

I think the purple is a lovely colour on you and it’s a cute touch with the black!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend, and had a very nice time celebrating your anniversary 🙂

What a gorgeous outfit, you coordinate beautifully with your magnolia. Ours flowers twice a year, sadly it has the uncanny knack of doing so just before we’re due incessant rain!
Well done on the fitness regime and weightloss. xxx

Many thanks Vix, I am thinking on reflection I will keep the jacket. Lucky you, our magnolia only flowers properly once but sometimes a few Autumn blooms. I am pleased with how my weightloss and fitness is progressing, small steps. Enjoy your Greek holiday.
