Tell Us About – Beauty

It’s that time again when I link with other bloggers from around the world for the monthly writing challenge and our word for this month as suggested by Marsha who blogs at Marsha in the Middle is Beauty.

For my own interest I did an online search for a definition and came across this one.

“Beauty is an expansive and subjective concept that transcends mere physical appearance to encompass a variety of elements including aesthetics , emotional connection and personal values.”

This very much resonated with me as I strongly feel that beauty in all forms is all around us .

There is great beauty in the natural landscape , as shown here taken on a trip to Bruny Island a couple of years ago.

As a gardener I always appreciate the beauty that comes with the change of seasons and always welcome the first blooms of the new season , be it the late Winter camellias , the first of the Spring bulbs or my all time favourite roses. Gardens of all types are things of beauty , it may be a perfectly manicured public space , a private open garden or a suburban plot.

As an admirer of all things fashion it would be remiss of me to not to mention the beauty that surrounds you on a visit to a designer fashion exhibition . I have been extremely fortunate to have enjoyed several , both in Australia (usually in Melbourne ) and overseas . The beauty is in the details of the design , the construction and the fabric .

This is from the Dior exhibition in Melbourne in 2017.

Also at the NGV in Melbourne , this time the McQueen exhibition.

I could continue as I have only touched the surface on how beauty in all its different forms add so much to our lives and how we each find beauty and will be keen to read my fellow bloggers on this one.

What gorgeous photos of gardens and landscape, Jill! The fashion exhibits are amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one beyond the Princess Diana gowns on display at Kensington. Well, I did see a Stephen Sprouse exhibit here in Indianapolis. Thanks for a wonderful post!

I agree with you that beauty is all around us in many different forms. It exists and just is. The countryside and nature and beautiful gowns made by McQueen and Westwood – that is beauty. We need to fill our lives with it. 😊

Hi Jill, I totally agree with the definition of beauty in your post. I’ve enjoyed reading your post as well as the other Tell Us About… contributors. It seems we all have a common theme that beauty is around us and not defined as our physical appearance. Your comment about roses and camellias reminded me of my Mum as she grew them in her garden when I was growing up. We visited Tasmania a couple of years ago and took a day trip to Bruny Island. The rugged beauty was spectacular. You’ve captured the prompt perfectly. Have a lovely weekend. x

Thank you so much Sue , I did think long and hard about this one and landed on my idea of beauty. Yes , we all have our own idea of beauty but agree it is so more than the personal appearance.
Your Mum’s garden sounds lovely and my love of roses and camellias comes from my Mum.

Thanks so much Vix , beauty is everywhere and the idea of beauty is different for each of us.

Oh, those beautiful pieces from the fashion exhibitions you have enjoyed. I love touching fabric, looking at the little details that make an item of clothing special. I know in exhibitions like those, it is strictly hands-off but when I meander through the clothing displays in my favorite stores, I always have to touch.

Those roses are spectacular. And that gorgeous garden!! Not sure if it would be more beautiful as seen from above or from ground level, walking through the grounds.

I think the most beautiful things in my life are my children and their children. My oldest daughter used to yell at me because I would turn to stare every time we stopped at a traffic light. She is just that beautiful. Looks not a thing like me…but I am so proud I ‘cooked’ her.

Thank you so much Leslie . Fabrics are beautiful and they do cry out to be touched but no not in exhibitions but you do get to admire them and their garments from afar.
The garden was Villandry in France and is beautiful either way but you do get the full effect from above.
Yes are families are also beautiful.
