Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.
It’s officially Summer down here but unlike other parts of the country we have had a slow start to Summer with overcast , often windy and cooler days. Although fingers crossed that is expected to change this week with days in the mid 20s.
Making the most of old favourites – this was my outfit for a few hours work at the House of Shoes last week. I am quite enjoying doing an occasional shift now and again without being tied to a strict timetable . Its always enjoyable catching up with the other staff and seeing past customers of mine and checking out the new shoes , I have been very restrained so far.
My outfit for the day was a dark blue Rundholz skirt paired with a coral Obi New Zealand jacket that I loved for many Summers as its one of my favourite colours. On the jacket I pinned my cork girl brooch that takes me back to Porto in Portugal were I purchased her in my trip there in 2018 .
The rose behind me is Albertine , a rather gorgeous once flowering rambler.
This was my outfit last week when I met my dear friend , Annie , for coffee on yet another coolish day. I met Annie when I was working at La Cigalle a few years ago and we clicked straight away . We share a love of both fashion and travel and while away many hours discussing our favourite topics.
I wore a very much loved and worn black Moyuru skirt with a cotton Paule Ka knit topped with beads in browns and creams , a mix of bangles, cork earrings , Karen Walker sunnies, a hat bought in Sydney many moons ago and United Nude shoes. As I walked down the hill to meet Annie I received a lovely compliment from a lady , it made my day as to be honest I wasn’t feeling 100%. This is why I also love to compliment others.
The last in the outfit trilogy was worn last Wednesday to an evening at Yeltour with Melbourne stylist Sally Mackinnon . I met Sally earlier in the year on her last visit and was impressed with her down to earth approach. Sally has just released a book covering topics she has shared with her clientele over the last twenty years. I did purchase Sally’s book after the discussion and who knew, you can teach an old dog new tricks as I am viewing my wardrobe through a new lens. One of the concepts is the three C,s when you think of your wardrobe – core , charisma and crush. For me my skirts , knits , jackets and pants are core, tulle skirts , sequin anything , fancier shoes , any metallic are my charisma items and floral anything or different colours and any trendy items are my crush .
Like many of us I often tend to gravitate to only wearing 20% of my wardrobe on a daily basis but am making a conscious effort to change this and wear what once was considered dressier in a different way.
For the evening I wore the black Rundholz tulle skirt with a black mesh top and a cream linen jacket from Loobies Story. My accessories were cream and black deco style earrings , cream bangles , cream sunnies and Preston Zly shoes.
I’ll finish this post with the detail on the back of the jacket – I was drawn to the embroidery and the subtle pleating .
How can it really be so close to Christmas – where has the year gone ?

You have the vision to put together the most creative outfits! You look very elegant in the B/W one, and the subtle embroidery on the back makes the jacket very special. Never thought of wearing coral with navy, but the combination looks awesome on you—will try it for myself. Love your current hair style. Even if I don’t comment often, I love your posts, and always learn something new.

Thank you so very much Elisa for your lovely comment. Black and white is always a favourite of mine but I am enjoying playing with colour . I hadn’t worn the coral and navy together before but was pleased they worked together. I am enjoying being back to the red bob again for now.
While you are having a slow start to Summer, we’re having a slow start to Winter. Apart from a handful of days, it hasn’t been really cold yet, though mostly very gloomy and wet!
I’m loving your trilogy of outfits, which are magnificently put together as always. I know I’ve said it before, but I absolutely love your individual quirky style.
I too am making a point of complimenting others, which can really make someone’s day! xxx

Thank you Ann , glad you enjoyed my trilogy of outfits. I think its important to give someone a compliment .
I had noticed the European start to Winter as it did seem warmer than our last visit.
Three beautifully Jill James curated outfits! I just love your skirts. I hadn’t heard of this book. I am going to have to look into it because I think I’d have a hard time with categorizing everything…but maybe not! Thanks for the suggestion.

Your outfits are, as always, creatively created and wonderful – and so pleased your beautiful garden
also has a starring role.

Thank you so very much Elizabeth . Wishing you and your family all the very best for a joyous Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
How lovely to see summer approaching on the other side of the world! Not a fan of Winter at all and escaping to warmer climes and having 5 days where the sun doesn’t set until 6.15pm have been wonderful.
Tha back of your jacket is gorgeous – and you look fabulous in your winter faves! xxx

Thank you so very much Vix. I know you are not a fan of your long and dark Winter days Vix and don’t blame you for escaping to warmer climes.
