Tulip Time

Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.

I’ll start with an apology for my absence over the last few weeks. Truth be told it was my ongoing computer issues , hopefully now resolved with a new computer which I am slowly coming to terms with. Fingers crossed for this post.

A couple of weeks ago John and I enjoyed a visit to Table Cape to view the tulips which were quite magnificent with all the different shapes and colours. The previous week had bought lots of rain and it was rather muddy under foot hence I am wearing a rather old pair of gumboots usually worn in my garden .

The day was overcast and a little chilly as the tulip farm is on Tasmania’s north west coast . I dressed in layers. Rundholz pants worn over warm leggings , a black knit , Pom Amsterdam jacket , a black Kaminsky hat , sunnies and black earrings.

Along with the tulips the farm grows Dutch Iris for the cut flower market.I just love the paler blue ones in the foreground and must plant some come Autumn here as I only have white in my garden .

Spring here has been a mix of mild sunny days and wet and windy days. I have not been idle spending countless hours in the garden which is starting to look good again as the roses and lupins are just starting to flower. Our youngest son, Callum has been visiting us this week from Melbourne and apart from bringing my new computer over and setting it up for me he has been a wonderful garden helper .

October /November is birthday month for us . Little Hamish turned four in October and his big brother Harry turned seven yesterday , their Mum, Sarah has a birthday on November 17th . My sister Lyn has a birthday tomorrow and mine is on the 19th., we celebrate by going somewhere special for lunch.

I have missed blogging and hope to make up for lost time .

Those fields of tulips are spectacular as is your outfit, Jill! Several hours north of us is a town called Holland. It’s in the state of Michigan, just north of Indiana. They have a tulip festival though we have never quite made it at the right time…either right before the tulips are at peak or just after. Either way, they are beautiful. I love irises, too. I don’t have any planted so I need to rectify that…I wonder if bunnies like them. I hope you have a wonderful birthday in case you don’t blog before then. And, happy birthday to your grandsons, sister, and daughter-in-law! Life is grand, right?

Thank you so very much Marsha . It certainly makes sense that the town of Holland would hold a tulip festival , one day you will hit the sweet spot. Both tulips and iris are spectacular when they are mass planted. I have no idea id bunnies find iris tasty.
Thank you for both mine and the family birthday wishes. I agree , life is grand.

Oh wow, Jill, so many birthdays! We have something similar too, with my daughter, son-in-law and grandson all within a couple of weeks in e early November. And then son-in-law has more within his own family and all in November!

Many happy returns to you for the 19th and for everyone else.

You are looking lovely as ever and the beautiful tulips are a sight to behold – so beautiful.

Thank you so very much Penny for the birthday wishes. Sounds a busy month for your family too.
Despite the wind and rain that Table Cape had experienced the tulips were still spectacular.
