Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.
Last Saturday was the MG Car Club’s annual concourse which was held in the town of Sheffield . I always describe the concourse as a beauty pageant for cars and believe me many of the cars’ owners take it just as seriously with a great deal of prepping and polishing taking place.
The car I am posing with is an MG TC which dates from 1946 to 1951 , which belongs to our friend Phillip and is named the Mustard Tart.
A line up of T series MG’s waiting for the judge’s inspection. These are my favourite MG’s but I may be a tad biased as John has owned one since his university days , although it didn’t come to the concourse this time.
This year marked the 70th. anniversary of the MGA , which was made between 1955 and 1962 . To mark the occasion there was a special display of MGA’s from all over the state including many cars that you don’t usually see out and about.
As part of the MGA celebrations owners were asked to dress up to reflect the era of their cars. I was asked to judge as there was a prize involved and I asked Colleen , a fellow MG member to assist. Unfortunately of the 24 cars there only four owners choose to dress up , so it turned out to be a simple task. To say we were a little disappointed along with Col , who had done so much work, was an understatement. The thing that really surprised me was that it was only the men that bothered, not any of their partners.
John and I had the pleasure of driving this black MGA to Sheffield for the day for its owner (he owns three). Never one to underdress I choose my outfit to compliment the car. I am wearing the mustard yellow Dogstar skirt , worn over a tulle skirt with a black knit and a cropped black velvet jacket. I added a little black hat , my vintage black bag , black round sunnies , black earrings and black suede boots.
I am joining Gail at Is This Mutton for Tuesday Twirl ( a litle late I know.)

What a collection of cars – they’re all so beautiful especially the Mustard Tart 😆 So glad you wore a matching skirt! Actually that skirt is one of my favourites – not only because yellow is my colour, it’s just gorgeous!
I love that you are never knowingly underdress. I aim to be the same. Have a good rest of the week.

Thank you so very much Penny , the cars did put on quite a show.
I knew the first time I saw the mustard skirt that it had to be mine as I loved the colour and its so hard to find. Enjoy your week too Penny.
That’s a beauty pageant for cars indeed. They are absolutely fabulous.
What a shame only four car owners chose to dress up. Such a missed opportunity.
Your outfit was stunning, as always, Jill. xxx

Thank you Ann , the cars do look so good all polished to perfection. I agree it certainly was a missed opportunity for the owners to dress to complement their cars. I know most people don’t enjoy dressing up like we do .
What beautiful cars! I have seen one similar to these in our town. I would love to own one of these, but Mike has his heart set on a Corvette. Of course, we will probably get neither as our garage is quite full already.
You look spectacular as usual! I love the pose with the Mustard Tart! You wore the absolute perfect look! I love that skirt…well, let’s be honest, I love all your skirts and most of your jackets…and your hats, too! You are always so fashionable, Jill! Thanks for sharing the concourse with us!

Thank you so very much Marsha. Keep me posted as to the sports car situation , keep in mind they are tricky to get in and out of as we age.
I did like the photo of me and the mustard tart , a perfect match for the skirt.
Perfect outfit for the day, Jill, gorgeous – and the cars look gorgeous too!
Love,
Elizabeth.

Thank you so very much Elizabeth, it was a good day with many interesting cars.
You’re spoiling us Jill with tulips last week and vintage cars this time! You look absolutely magnificent, love the yellow and black and it really pops against the cars. What a pity so few car owners dressed up. Maybe they will next time.

Thank you so very much Gail , the yellow skirt did photograph well with the cars. It was a shame so few dressed up , maybe a seed was sown for another time.
