Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.
As the title of this post suggests I am a bit of a dreamer and for as long as I can remember enjoyed losing myself in my imagination. As a little girl , like many , it was playing games with my dolls , escaping through books on far away places or playing dress ups.
That little girl hasn’t really gone (or maybe I am entering my second childhood) as I still love to lose myself in books on far away places and playing dress ups is still one of my favourite things to do.
In recent years I have discovered a love for the drama of a tulle skirt . I often wonder if this is because as a little girl I always wanted to do ballet, but for a variety of reasons it wasn’t a possibility. Maybe it was just wanting to dance or the costumes I will never know . On this occasion it is a Rundholz dress with its tulle skirt that I have worn and loved for several years . It has just the right amount amount of fullness for a twirl if the ballet girl reappears. My accessories for the outfit , a mix of bangles , a multi-strand necklace from Jianhui London, heart shaped sunnies and Trippen shoes.
On the subject of books I was very lucky to add two rather special books to my fashion library last week . I was at our local bookshop to buy a book for my grandson Hamish, who has just turned four when I spied the books on an outside table at a very reduced price . The first of the books about Yves St Laurent was of great interest as I had visited the Musee YSL in Paris back in November 2018 .
A little peek inside showing the concept drawings and the finished garment , something I always find so intriguing.
The second of the books , Fashion First by Diane Keaton was one I had eyed off online but at a price of $125.00 was way out of my price range . You can only imagine how thrilled I was to only pay $24.95. Not only do I admire Diane as an actress but also her style . I do love a woman who walks her own path.
The book is a walk through her fashion choices over the years , including some delightful family photos . Now this is an outfit I would wear in an instant , the skirt , the hat , the belt and its black , so me.
Another outfit I love and may take inspiration from – I do like the wide belt over the coat.
I will finish off this somewhat rambling post with an outfit I wore to meet a friend for lunch last week. It may be Spring here but its still a bit chilly and has been wet and windy hence a need to dress warmly wearing a black Moyuru skirt , black knit and short wool jacket by Bec and Bridge and the Vivienne Westwood beret that I bought in Japan. I also added a couple of muti coloured bangles and beaded earrings from a gift shop.
I think I will continue to be a dreamer with a touch of reality thrown in whenever absolutely necessary.

Yes, I can see that little dreaming girl in you, Jill! I think your tulle skirts are probably the best I’ve ever seen. I can also see Diane Keaton as an inspiration for you. I love those multi-colored bangles. I can’t wear bangles as I have man hands and can never get them on!

Thank you Marsha , I am so pleased that the dreaming little girl shows through. I have only worn tulle skirts for a couple of years and love wearing them . I am so pleased with the Diane Keaton book .Shame you can’t find bangles that work as they are great fun.
I love your sense of theatre, Jill, and the ballet memories (I would love to find a tulle skirt somewhere…). And what
a find with your books! It was meant to be – when the planets align…
Beautiful photos of you in the bush, I love your in nature shoots.
Love,
Elizabeth.

Thank you so very much Elizabeth . I imagine you have many delightful ballet memories. I was so happy to find the books at a price in my budget. Glad you liked the bush shots.
Hello fellow dreamer! I’ve always been a dreamer too and I’d like to believe that the little girl I once was is still with me. I’m glad that, like me, you still love playing dress up and loose yourself in a good book. Long may it last! xxx

Those 2 Diane Keaton outfits would definitely suit you! Loving the Rundholz dress with its dramatic tulle skirt. You must have quite a library of beautiful books about fashion!

Thanks so much Gail , yes I do have quite a collection of fashion books that I return to time and time again. I am fond of this dress with its dramatic skirt.
I love that you are a dreamer and have followed your dreams by dressing up. Yes, love that Diane Keaton book. And out of all the items in those two outfits you are wearing I love the Vivienne Westwood beret best and then the skirt that went with it!
I do love your hair as well! It’s looking very good these days.
Btw, I’m expecting an Idaretobe skirt to arrive shortly – woo hoo!
Long may you carry on dreaming X

Thank you so very much Penny. You can imagine how saddened I feel after the news this morning that Diane Keaton has passed away at the age of 79, she will be so missed.
Now that my hair has some length again I am enjoying wearing my berets and hats, so pleased this one came home . I will be keen to see your new skirt.
I will always be a dreamer. x

Thank you for your comment Elizabeth. Reading this book and visiting the YSL museum has given me an insight , would love to see his home in Morocco but it probably won’t happen. I too remember when the makeup was first in Aus too . There is something about tulle that does bring out the little girl in us.
