Winter Wardrobe Musings

Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.

We are now officially half way through our Winter and so far with the odd exception it has been relatively mild . Many of my heavier Winter clothes still remain unworn but that could change as late July and August often are colder especially if there is snow on the mountains. In the meantime I am making the most of my jacket collection.

This was my outfit when I met my dear friend Annie last week. Both the jacket and the skirt are old favourites from Moyuru , worn with a pair of suede and patent leather boots from Paco Herero , red gloves another wearable travel souvenir from Lisbon , a brooch bought locally and the Moyuru hat that I found in Tokyo on our trip last year.

Leopard love , this was my outfit for our MG girls coffee morning . A black base of my much loved Moyuru skirt and Paule Ka knit topped with a short , swing leopard coat and faux fur cape , leopard print tights , Hispanitas shoes and heart shaped sunnies. The coat has been with me for over twenty years and was from Australian label Lee Bird who was based in Queensland .

Another day , another coat – this time my very much loved Lisa Ho black wool military style coat which I have paired with the gold Rundholz skirt ,a sale buy from I Dare to Be last year. I really can’t remember exactly how long I have had this coat but it must be over twenty years now and I always get compliments every time I wear it and it plays so beautifully with newer items . Maybe I am a bit of a hoarder but I do like to keep my clothes and bring them out each season , its like revisiting old friends . There are times that something isn’t worn for a year or two for a number of reasons and then comes out again . I will admit I have a few things that are a touch too small for me at present but I have had now taken things in hand and they will fit again , hopefully sooner rather than late

That said after this Winter I really do need to be strong and have a wardrobe cull , its getting out of hand , and re-assess what stays and is suiting my lifestyle these days.

Life is simpler these days but I feel more me when I am more dressed up so I will continue to do so even if I am seen as overdressed . Dress the way that pleases you and just wear the good stuff .

Some wonderful pieces here Jill. I love the leopard print with black, and the matching leopard tights. I love the cut of the military style coat and the drama created by the gold Rundholz skirt. I am in awe of your wardrobe! I am a little bored already with summer, as the wardrobe possibilities are limited (and the heatwaves are intolerable). I’ve realised I prefer winter.

Thank you so very much Gail . Maybe being a bit of a collector does have its benefits . I have seen about your heatwaves this Summer , hard to get used too when its not the norm . I agree with you on Summer dressing.

Thanks so much Mirielle , I daresay it is very hot and humid where you are at present.

You do have the most amazing coats, Jill! I’ve got a bit of thing for coats but there’s nothing in my coat wardrobe which even remotely compares to yours! You’ve got such a wonderfully individual style.
And there’s no such thing as overdressed! xxx

All of your outfits are so chic, but I adore that last look! I can see why you get compliments on that coat. I love the military style, and it looks so good with the gold skirt. Is that an ostrich bag? An old friend who has since passed was from Australia and had a bag made from ostrich skin which looked a lot like yours…the fabrication not the style.

We are in the throes of a heat wave with high humidity…90s (32C), but it feels even hotter.

Thank you so very much Marsha . The bag isn’t actually ostrich but embossed leather no doubt done to look like it .
I can only imagine your heat and humidity .

You have some fantastic clothes and really know what styles work for you, having a cull must be very daunting when everything you own is gorgeous! xxx

Thats exactly the problem Vix but I will have to be strong and hopefully make good decisions.

Oh gosh – I do prefer winter clothes to summer ones. It’s the jackets and coats I like best paired with great shoes and skirt. I do like your military jacket. It’s so good. My new jacket from Idaretobe hasn’t been worn yet as it’s definitely an Autumn/Winter item.

You continue to be an iconic dresser and I so agree with you that dressing up is the way to go. I change my clothes into dressier ones just to go to the supermarket!

I can only agree Penny as Winter clothes are much more me too . I think it is because we both really enjoy being more dressed up than casual. I will be keen to see that new jacket. Thank you so very much Penny.
