Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.
Not sure why I titled this Winter Happenings when to be honest things have been rather quiet around here lately. I have been spending my time continuing to tame my garden as the weather permits , doing the usual household chores , reading and enjoying walks with John and Raffy .
This was my outfit for a quiet day at home with the gloves and beret added as we were about to go for a neighborhood walk with Raffy. I am wearing chocolate brown cord pants from Moyuru , a new purchase this Winter , worn with black knits and a wool top from Jude in Melbourne that has kept me warm for many Winters. The tree behind me is a Chimonanthus , also known as Wintersweet , which has pale lemon flowers in mid Winter that perfumes the whole garden.
My accessories with the exception of the Arche boots which were a local purchase a couple of years ago are all wearable souvenirs. The girl brooch is cork and I found her in Porto in Portugal back in 2018 , the purple gloves are from a little glove shop in Lisbon and I found the Vivienne Westwood beret in Kanazawa on our trip to Japan , it was a birthday present to myself .
I also have been playing in my wardrobe planning outfits around my tulle skirts for daytime wear. This was one of the outfits with the black Rundholz tulle skirt paired with the Elliatt jacket – which is really a combination of vest and cape adorned with sprigs of flowers in yellows and orange that has sat unworn for the last couple of Winters . I aim to rectify that this year. I also wore a vintage black hat , black earrings, black suede boots and yellow gloves also from Lisbon .
Last Friday John and I joined our MG car club friends for brunch at a little cafe in the town of Exeter. It was a cold and frosty morning for our drive in the Mazda MX5 with its barely functioning heater so I piled on the warm layers. The Moyuru wool pants and jacket , black knit and black sheepskin vest ( a recycle find) , beret , gloves and boots kept me toasty.
John and Raffy taken yesterday on our walk at the Trevallyn Recreation Reserve , which is a fairly short drive from home. John and I walk here from time to time but it was the first time for Raffy , who just loved it. You are walking through the bush on formed paths , we do a walk that takes us over an hour.
Sometimes you can be lucky and spy a wallaby , doesn’t he blend beautifully with the bushland, but they are shy creatures in the wild so that was as close as I could get. On this day we were also accompanied by the screeching of several white cockatoos that were high up in the trees so no photos.
Enough of my ramblings for now , thanks for reading.

The wallaby!! That is so cool for us here in the US! I miss my walks: it’s been hot and I’ve been lazy, so I haven’t walked nor run much. I really should get back to it as it is not only physically good for me, but mentally too!

Thank you for commenting Mirielle, glad you liked the wallaby photo. I can only imagine how hot and humid it is where you are.
Jill, you are truly a style icon! The way you have curated your look around pieces you love, fit your aesthetic, and are just so doggone cool amazes me! That Elliatt jacket is spectacular! It was different seeing you in the ivory colors, but that sheepskin vest looks perfect with them and brings the edge you always wear. Loved the photo of John and Raffy as well as the wallaby!

You’re the most glamorous gardener Ive ever seen! I love seeing your winter outfits when we’re sweltering in summer. You look amazing for your MG trip. It’s great how you wear your gorgeous pieces and don’t save them “for best” as similar many of us do.

Thank you so very much Gail. I must admit to not always being glamorous in the garden . I had been keeping an eye on the UK and European weather , it certainly has been a scorcher so far. I am making a determined effort to wear my clothes and no longer keep them for going out.
I guess Winters are made for quiet times, and your mix of garden taming, household chores, reading and walking sound absolutely perfect to me!
Your first outfit is my favourite – and of course I instantly zoomed in to your cork girl brooch! – closely followed by the second one: that Elliatt cape/jacket is absolutely fabulous! xxx

Thank you so very much Ann . I think you are right Ann and Winter is a season to bunker down and spend quieter times at home. I do love the girl brooch and still remember the little store where I found her. The cape/jacket is lovely and I will make more of an effort to wear it more often
Hi Jill
That Elliat jacket is superb and as usual you look amazing in all your outfits, especially the ivory and fur outfit. And it’s winter for you while we have above average temperatures to deal with!
I love the way you dress up for everything including gardening. I am slowly weeding out the mundane items that are just dull and aiming to look good no matter what I do. You continue to be my role model for that!
Love the walk photo and the wallaby!

Lovely to see John and Raffy and that wallaby is gorgeous, I’ve only ever seen them in zoos!
As usual you look incredible in everything you wear. How stunning is that embroidered jacket? I love it! xxx
