Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.
Things here have been sauntering along with a combination of social occasions, finally spending time in the garden , taking Raffy to the vet for his annual check up and vaccinations , a routine GP visit for me, and a lovely visit from the family. I also spent an enjoyable afternoon taking out my Winter hats from their boxes to replace most of my Summer hats on display on their shelves. I did enjoy trying the Winter ones on again after they really didn’t work with my short hair . The hair still has a little way to go to get back to the bob but it will hopefully by mid Winter. I am still deciding if I shall have a fringe (bangs) again or not.
I was reminded at the GP how quickly time is passing when she commented that this will be my last Cervical Screen Test as in Australia you are invited to take a test every five years between the ages of 25-74. I will be interested how this works in other countries.
This was my outfit last week when I met with my friends , Didee, Peta and her husband Marcus for a much overdue lunch catch up. Didee and I have been friends since we met at high school when we were both twelve and still meet almost weekly for a walk and a coffee. I met Peta over ten years when her , Didee and myself worked together at a small local clothing boutique.
The outfit was a mix of old favourites , Moyuru pants , Ted Baker shirt , Alumpunto B duster , much loved beads and United Nude sandals.
Last Friday was our monthly MG girls catch up at the Silos Hotel . Our numbers vary depending on what is happening but it is always a fun morning full of laughter and interesting conversations. One topic of conversation that came up this month is something I hate to admit I hadn’t given much thought to was? – are there things your partner does that you would struggle with if they were no longer with us. This came about after the husband of one of our group had an extremely serious health scare earlier this year (fortunately he is now doing well). We discussed finance, insurance , household things like changing fuses or light bulbs , computer passwords and other electrical and technology . I have a clue about many of these things but am ashamed to admit I have never put petrol in our car , John just does it automatically . I am determined to learn – how hard can it be.
John decided to take his 1953 MG TD that morning as it was a fine and clear , that was until the heavens opened briefly on our way home.
We are now having some lovely Autumn weather – cool mornings and evenings and clear sunny days . Time to bring out my favourite ever Moyuru shirt , paired with my Rundolz pants , Trippen sandals and a black and white necklace from Salamanca Market.
For any car enthusiasts the blue car parked in front of us is a Rolls Royce that just happened to be there.
Playing in my wardrobe is always an enjoyable pastime creating outfits from a mix of pieces not previously worn together. I adore this Bread and Butter skirt with its painted Renaissance style faces and really don’t wear it as much as I should but am planning to change that and pair it with knits, jackets and boots for Autumn/ Winter. Today I teamed it with a bronze 1980’s short sleeve leather jacket that I bought second hand ages ago, cream sandals from Hispanitas ,beads , a mix of bangles and cream sunnies.
Have a good week everyone and for my northern hemisphere friends I hope your Spring weather is being kind.

I absolutely adore the last outfit – that skirt is gorgeous. As are you – so stylish 😍

Thank you so very much Penny for your lovely comment. xx
Jill, you look positively radiant in every photo especially the last one in that amazing skirt!
My Dad would have thoroughly approved of your vintage MG. Up until his 80s he’d zip around in a gold MGBGT. When I was born he used to drive a 1954 AC Aceca, so cool!
In answer to your question, cervical screening in the UK is between the ages of 25 to 64 so Australia is definitely ahead of us in that respect.
What a sensible topic of conversation to discuss what tasks you and your friends aren’t sure about and tackling them before the urgency arises. xxx

Thank you so very much Vix. Your Dad sounds quite a character driving around in his gold MGBGT> I mentioned the AC Aceca to John , he was most impressed.
Glad to hear that Australia is ahead in our screening.
I’m always in awe of your quirky outfits, but that last one really tops them all. What a stunner that is.
As for that particular topic of conversation, I had to learn a couple of things on the hoof when Jos was hospitalized back in October. There are still things I need to get to grips with, but Jos is the first to admit that he’d struggle more if it were the other way around. xxx

Thank you so much Ann , that skirt always makes quite a statement and I am looking forward to wearing it over Autumn and Winter.
I am sure there were a few things you hadn’t thought about when Jos was hospitalized but I am sure you learnt quickly .
Jill, you have the most interesting life! I have often told my husband we need an MG! I don’t know that he could get into it or out of it at this point. But, I would love driving it! I love all your skirts, but I don’t know that I’ve seen the last one before. I can see you winterizing it quite nicely and can’t wait to see more of it.
As for taking on the husband’s jobs…I’ve done quite a bit of that. There are still some limits for me, though. I’m not ever going to be comfortable doing anything electrical. I am determined to change that. I fought against putting gas in my car for ages until I finally made Mike take me to the gas station and talk me through it. I thought it would be much harder than it is. It isn’t…if I can do it, you can, too. The only thing I don’t know…and I should…is the password to our retirement account. I do know that I can call our financial advisor, and he can help me if I should need it. I also don’t know much about cars, but Mike admits he doesn’t either anymore. Give him an old car, and he’s fine. He doesn’t like to tinker with the new ones. Ah, the things we have to think about as we age, right?

Thank you so very much Marsha . I must say I have never driven the Mg and its highly unlikely I ever will as it is a bit tricky . You are right about the getting in and out as several of our older MG friends have had to change cars for exactly that reason.
I have been in awe of your skills especially with your bathroom update . Glad I,m not alone in putting petrol in the car , you have given me confidence to do so.
I will show that skirt in Winter mode .
