Hello everyone , I hope all is well in your part of the world.
As long time readers of this blog it is no surprise that black and white is an all time favourite colour combination of mine , especially in the Summer. I plan to continue on from last year and have set myself the challenge of only buying what I love and will wear for many years to come . Once again I have set a target of only buying five new items and also restricting what I buy second hand . No more buying just because it is a bargain .
Playing in my wardrobe will be a priority this year , being creative with combinations or as is the case here re-visiting old favourites.
This was my choice for a rather social day, meeting my dear friend , Didee , for a New Year brunch at The Mad Apple , and an MG car club run and dinner at a nearby pub for dinner.
I am wearing my much loved and worn gingham Moyuru skirt with a Viktoria Wood blouse that also has seen many Summers , white Dior sunnies, bangles and earrings (thrift shop) and my Trippen sandals (my reward for myself after finishing chemo ).
Another day in black and white , this time for a medical appointment in the morning (my now regular check up CT scan) and lunch with two of John’s sisters. I find I feel so much more confident for these appointments if I make a bit of an effort to dress up.
Both the Moyuru top and the Alembika have seen quite a few Summers but for some reason I had not paired them together before . I rather liked the result . Once again I wore the Trippen sandals as they are so comfortable . The rubber necklace was made in Brisbane by the very clever, Mika, and was gift from my friend Elizabeth when she stayed with us back in 2021.
Taken in the garden , this was my outfit for a day trip to Hobart on Monday . It was a rather productive day as we came home with four boxes of apricots , which I have been stewing madly ever since . Apricots are my favourite stone fruit and the grower has the most wonderful Moorpark variety. We also caught up with our son Zac and grandson Harry for lunch in the city which was lovely but I neglected to take any photos. I also dropped off three pairs of sunglasses at a recycle shop to hopefully sell for me on commission.
Comfort was the order of the day as it is a five hour return drive and my outfit reflected this , Rundholz botanical print pants paired with a Rundholz shirt , United Nude sandals and an old Jianhui necklace that is very light to wear.
Since my last post I have landed on my word of the year and it is restore.
I will start by restoring my health and fitness to previous levels through regular exercise and diet. My diet is generally good but there is always room for improvement and to this end I have invested in The Food for Life Cookbook from Tim Spector and Zoe.I will keep you posted on my progress.
The garden is also in need of some restoration after being somewhat neglected over the last couple of years. Part of these plans is to make it easier to manage with planting that requires little attention .
I also am hoping to make some changes with the blog and return to posting with blogger , which is where I started 11 years ago . On the advice of others I made a change but will admit that the hosting charges have increased dramatically to the point that I can no longer justify the expense. Wish me luck as you know I am technically challenged.
Do you do a word of the year? – please share.
Until next time , take care and thank you for reading.

Oh my word – those outfits are so precise and amazing and beautiful, I love them.
And you are doing the Zoe programme. I will be really interested in how it goes with you, do give us updates. I will do Zoe once I’ve had my cataracts done as I am sure my biome is really not in a good state and hasn’t been for years. But one thing at time!

Thank you so very much Penny , you know me and my love of black and white.
Unfortunately the full Zoe program isn’t available here yet , otherwise I would , so I am doing what I can with their podcasts, online and the cookbook.
Wishing you all the best for your cataract operation.
I say why mess with perfection! Black and white are your signature colors! I just adore that Moyuru and Alembika ensemble! It is so unique and yet so completely you! Will you be sending out new information for your blog when you make the move, or will we automatically come with you?
Have a fabulous weekend, Jill!

Thank you so very much Marsha. Having worn black and white for so many years now it always feels right.
At this stage I hope the change will automatically update but if not I will advise my followers . I do appreciate the question.

Thank you so very much Elizabeth. You certainly could wear black and white but then you wear colour so beautifully.
I love black and white as well. Such a creative combinations you put together! The Trippen sandals are awesome—very unique. Thanks for sharing the inspiration, and particularly for the encouragement to wear what we already have.

Thank you Elisa , black and white always seems to work for me especially in the Summer. I am finding more and more that I enjoy playing in my closet and re wearing what I love.
I’m swooning over your trademark black and white outfits, and the second one in particular. Also, how amazing are those Trippen sandals!
I also tend to dress up for medical appointments and other things that make me feel uncomfortable.
I don’t do resolutions or a word of the year, but restore seems to be a good choice.
As I too am technically challenged, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a smooth return to Blogger! xxx

Thank you so very much Ann. I loved these Trippen sandals at first sight , they are so me. Glad I’m not the only one that makes a special effort for medical appointments, it does make them easier. I do hope for a smooth change back to blogger , fingers crossed.
Hi Jill,
Apricots! I love them too. Apricot jam. I’m always taken back to my landlady’s little back garden in Melbourne where she had an amazing apricot tree from which she made thick, delicious jam.
Hope your tests continue with good results.
I like your shopping target although you have always bought clothes you truly love and wear for years.
Happy gardening,
Love,
Elizabeth.
