Hello friends, hope this finds all well in your part of the world.
Our power company has been undertaking works in our street and we had been advised that we would have no electricity for the day last Wednesday. We decided it was a good excuse for a drive in the country and lunch at one of our favourite spots Lost Farm on the north east coast.
As the power went off early we had plenty of time for a coffee stop and to explore the charming town of Lilydale along the way.
I was very taken with this pretty house and its beautiful garden with all the roses in full bloom. I must admit to being a tad envious as the blooms on my roses are a bit scarce at present as its been rather hot and dry .
Lilydale is a quiet little town but with an artistic ambience . In recent times many of the local artists have painted the local telegraph poles with murals , depicting local products , people and scenes .
Continuing on with my plan to wear what I own my outfit for the day incorporated a few items not worn this Summer. I started with my wide leg Moyuru pants , a cream from Aldo Martins ( a recycle find ) and topped with a Japanese jacket , named a haori that I have owned for a few years .Traditionally the haori is worn over a kimono. I also added cream bangles , a neckace in beige tones , a Christmas gift years ago , United Nude sandals and on the oriental theme a green embroidered bag with bamboo handles , an old thrift shop buy.
A closer view of the wall panel and also the sleeves and pattern of the haori. The wall panel was unveiled in 1992 and is a mix of natural elements. It was both the pattern and the sleeves of the haori jacket that I fell for initially but I am still on the fence as to if it will stay or go to a new home.
After our coffee and wander around Lilydale we continued onto our lunch spot with a view , Lost Farm . Barnbougle Lost Farm is a 20 hole Links golf course on Tasmania’s North East Coast. Not being golfers we appreciate the excellent restaurant with a magnificent view over the golf links towards the sea.
The golf course has quite a reputation and attracts golfers from over Australia and overseas. Not a bad spot to play although at times it must be a challenge with the strong winds off Bass Strait.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch , the food was excellent , John had steak frites and a beetroot tart for me . We both were a little naughty and indulged in dessert , the cheesecake for John and the lemon tart for me , they were as good as they looked.
A little footnote from last weeks post – nothing will change on the blog for this year at least as I somewhat stupidly neglected to cancel my hosting platform and it was renewed automatically- lesson learned but I have taken it as a sign.
Thanks for reading , have a good week everyone.

I would be quite envious of those roses, too, Jill! They are gorgeous! I have two rose bushes which bloomed quite a bit last summer. They’ve gotten quite leggy so I have to learn exactly how to prune them. I would love to add a few more, but I’m not sure how closely roses can grow though they seem to be quite close in that yard! Your Japanese jacket is quite lovely, but I can see it would be a bit difficult to style with those sleeves. It is gorgeous, though!
Have a wonderful weekend!

The roses in that garden were so lovely . Sounds like your two roses could benefit from a good prune , I do find roses very forgiving so don’t stress too much about technique.
Thanks for your thoughts on the Japanese jacket Marsha , I am still unsure .
Sometimes you have to be a little naughty, Jill! Good for our overall health to indulge in delicious dessert occasionally.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful big day out.
Love,
Elizabeth.
