Outfits, Friendships and An Anniversary

Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.

Last week on September 11th. John and I celebrated our 48th. wedding anniversary , where did all those years go. For fun we drove to the Batman Bridge picnic spot , where we went on our first date together nearly 51 years ago .  No picnic this time as it was rather a cool and windy day unlike the first time which was in November and a rather hot day. I remember that I wore a little Summer dress with a sweetheart neckline and as John was driving an open top MGB I managed to get a rather nasty sunburn. Lesson learnt , always apply sunblock for a ride in a sports car.

My outfit for the drive was a mix of some of my favourite recycle finds , a Kenzo floral velvet jacket found in Melbourne a few years ago , an Alistair Trung skirt , the Bally boots that I found at Red Fox Vintage recently and long red leather gloves found at a charity shop in Paris in 2018.

I have enjoyed a very social time of late meeting up with friends for coffee and a catch up. This was my outfit when I met up with my dear friend , Annie last week. I paired the gold Rundolz skirt with a simple black top , patterned tights , black suede boots and a string of old favourite beads. Annie and I met a few years ago and bonded over a love of fashion and style . We also share the joys of travelling . We were both quite chuffed when the young lass at the cafe complimented us on our outfits and said she hoped to be like us one day.

Another day , another catch up and another outfit- this time for tea and talk with a good friend Janet- I am wearing my  yellow and black Dogstar skirt , black velvet jacket from Yeltour , a black knit and black boots , Fendi sunnies , yellow gloves from Lisbon last year and a black and yellow flower brooch found at a market .

I met both Annie and Janet a few years ago when I was working at La Cigalle , a one of a kind boutique , that closed in 2016 when the owner moved to Sydney.

Janet and I meet regularly and are close friends , enjoying each others company . Making new friends later in life can be a challenge but is also so rewarding .

Taken on our front porch as we were both off to meet MG friends , albeit at different venues , for our monthly get together. At the end of last year three of us decided that it would be a good idea to have an informal get together once a month for the MG girls with the only stipulation that we don’t talk cars. It has proven to be popular and a great way to get to know one another. My outfit is another mix of old favourites , black Moyuru skirt, black knit , cropped tartan top (a recycle find) , little red vintage hat and red Think shoes.

Well , as you may have noticed I am back to my red hair and may I say it feels more like me again (for now at least).

Thank you my friends for reading . Joining Gail at Is This Mutton for Wow on Wednesday.

Jill, what a treat it must be to meet you for lunch or coffee in one of those spectacular outfits! Do you friends dress up too? I always think you honor your hosts by dressing up (as appropriate) for a party or something they’ve invited you to. My favorite piece is that first jacket with the red gloves…

Thank you so very much Mary Katherine . Most of my friends also enjoy a chance to dress up and I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. That jacket will always be rather special to me.

Oh wow, Happy Anniversary to you too! 48 years, you’ll soon catch me up!

Totally love all your skirts. I’ve just bought a skirt from Idaretobe – in the sale.It was quite dramatically reduced. I’ve decided to buy fewer clothes from charity shops and more from places like Idaretobe. Also want to wear far more black and white pieces. You are the inspiration of course!

Thank you Penny for the anniversary wishes , yes not far behind you.
We do both love our skirts. I will be keen to see your new skirt from Idaretobe , they do have some bargains in their sale. Your new buying plan sounds a good one , black and white is always right in my book.

I love, love, love the red hair, Jill! I also love it with the new style! Your yellow skirt reminds of me Yayoi Kusama. Our local art museum had an installation there a few years ago. It was quite fascinating. I love that velvet jacket. Your wardrobe is so eclectic and so fab! I honestly love your edgy vibe!

Thank you so very much Marsha , I am pleased that I returned to my red hair at least for the time being. I did appreciate your opinion. The yellow skirt certainly is so very Yayoi Kusama isn’t it. I hope to visit an art gallery in her home town when we are in Japan. The velvet jacket is good for this time of year.

Happy Anniversary, Jill and John. 48 years, that’s quite something these days!
Love the red hair, I’m not surprised you went back to it as it is so you. As are all your fabulous outfits!
It’s a toss up between the first one, the Alistair Trung skirt with that gorgeous Kenzo floral velvet jacket and the third, with its eye-catching pops of yellow!
What a joy to be able to catch up with your like-minded friends! xxx

Being able to catch up with friends at will is certainly the bonus of being a retired person. The Kenzo jacket is one of my luckiest ever finds.
