Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world.
It really is far too early to call Winter as over but we have been having some lovely early Spring like days. Will they last , that is unlikely but according to the grower of blueberries at our local market Spring will come early.
I have spent some time in my garden finally finishing pruning my many roses before it really is too late. As a gardener I always look forward to the promise of Spring as the hellebores , camellias , magnolias and bulbs start to show the first of their blooms. Over the last year I had wondered if my joy of the garden would return as due to my illness and travel last year it really had gotten out of control and getting it back was a task that to be honest I had neither the strength or enthusiasm. I still find I simply can’t spend as long gardening as I once did but I am slowly getting there.
One of the first camellias is this beautiful Camellia Reticulata , whose name I have long since forgotten as it was planted many years ago. It is now a small tree and quite a sight when covered with its huge bright pink flowers.
The hellebores (or Winter roses) are also starting to put on quite a show. The vast majority in the garden are single flowers including a few that came from my mothers garden but I also have a small number of special ones like these doubles purchased from a local specialised grower.
That’s the garden tour over for now – back to my other love , which happens to be enjoying my wardrobe. These days it is not about fashion or buying something new but rather planning my outfits with what I own.
The first of the outfits was centred around the red wool vest by Mischa that I probably have had for at least ten years. It is worn with a Paula Ryan black knit and Melbourne design by Jude pants, fancy socks and red Think shoes , black heart brooch, red and black gloves and red and black earrings.
The back of the vest showing its racer style back . My little recycled black hat is an all time favourite.
I wore my second outfit for a coffee morning with my MG car club friends last Friday. This was very much a combination of old friends starting with my much loved Moyuru black skirt, a black knit and Paule Ka short crop cardigan. Leopard velvet , leopard gloves and tights, black leather Obi belt and Hispanitas shoes finished the outfit.
The last of the outfits I managed to get photos of is all black with touches of bling. I started with the Rundholz tulle bubble skirt and black Dogstar knit , then added a bling necklace , earrings and gloves.
The necklace deserved a close up , it was a recycle find at Red Fox Vintage a few years ago , as were the earrings. My bling gloves are my Paris birthday gift to me.
Speaking of Paris I have thoroughly enjoyed the Olympic Games in my all time favourite city .
That’s all for now but I will be back later in the week with Tell Us About – this time it is about holidays.

Hi Jill,
I also loved touring Paris during the Games – and we still have the Paralympics to come!
Enjoy your garden, it looks beautiful.
Love,
Elizabeth.

Hello Elizabeth, thanks for the reminder about the Paralymics , we can enjoy the sport and Paris again.
The garden is starting to come to life again.
Your garden is gorgeous, I’m so pleased that you’re getting so much pleasure from it again and managing to fight through the wilderness. Ours is appalling but the wildlife love it!
Glorious outfits as always. It’s exciting that change in the season, isn’t it? Reacquainting yourself with old favourite s and playing with different ways to wear them. Birthday gifts to yourself are always the best ones!
We loved the Olympics, too. We’re quite bereft that they’re all over. xxx

Thanks so much Vix , the garden is getting there , fortunately I don’t do perfection .
I agree reacquainting yourself with old favourites is always fun.
I so enjoyed watching the Olympics in Paris , more than usual .
Your garden looks lovely from the photos you’ve posted. Mine are beginning to wind down not because fall is quickly approaching. I think it’s because their season of blooming is over, and it’s been very dry the last few weeks. There is so much excitement, isn’t there, in going around to see things poking up or putting out buds!
You always look stunning in these dramatic ensembles, Jill! I must admit to major envy for both of those skirts! I don’t think I have the edge to pull those looks off, though! Do your friends ooh and ahh when you show up, or are they as fabulously dressed as you?
Have a wonderful week, and I look forward to reading your post on holidays!

Thank you so very much Marsha , I always welcome those first signs of Spring. The heat always plays havoc in the garden.
Glad you liked the outfits , as you know I do love my skirts. My friends are a mix of more casual dressers and a dresser upper like me.
Fabulous outfits as always, Jill, and I love your garden too!

Thank you so very much Mary Katherine.
How lovely to see the first signs of Spring over at yours. I absolutely love Hellebores but have yet to find a double-flowered one. They’re stunning! Otherwise, I’m much the same with gardening. Due to next door’s building work it all got a bit out of hand, and I’m simply lacking the energy to put it right.
That said, your outfits are once again fabulously quirky as usual. That red wool vest is amazing, and so is your Moyuru black skirt! You’ve definitely got your very own individual style, Jill! xxx

Isn’t it always a joy to see those first signs of Spring. I agree with you on Hellebores , I just love them . I am sure I have had more of the double ones but these are the only ones flowering this year. Hopefully we will both get our gardens the way we like them in time.
Thanks so much Ann. xx
Gorgeous clothes – love the tulle bubble skirt. And it’s nearly Spring where you are! We are still waiting for our Summer to arrive!
Lovely post as per usual 🙂
I love hellebores! And you have the most beautiful clothes – I would love to raid your closet!
