Thoughts of Japan

Hello everyone, I do hope all is well in your part of the world.

I guess I should explain the title of today’s post, the answer is twofold. The first relates to this outfit , which is very much Japanese in origin. The top was made and purchased by its previous owner (it’s a recycle find ) on a trip to Japan and it is worn with my first ever purchase from Japanese clothing brand Moyuru. At the time I was working at a unique local store , La Cigalle ,( unfortunately no longer ) that stocked the brand. Looking back that is now probably ten years ago .

I know in the photo it looks like a skirt but it is actually a cross between pants and a skirt. Is it a skort , although that is usually shorts with a skirt and thought of as sportswear . Whatever the name I am so glad I discovered Moyuru all those years ago and now have a bit of a collection.

I decided to add a touch of red in my accessories with gloves, earrings , a little vintage hat and Trippen shoes paired with a snazzy pair of cream, black and red socks that also were made in Japan.

The pile of books may be a hint as to the second part – early planning for a return trip to Japan later in the year to see the Autumn colours . We were there in the Spring of 2017 , the cherry blossoms really are beautiful.

Early days in the planning , which is my favourite part , but at this stage it will probably be in November.

Have a good week everyone . xxx

I have always wondered about your skirts. That makes sense that they are from Japan because they seem to always be on the cutting edge of fashion. How lovely it must have been to see the cherry blossoms and now to see it in Autumn! And, yes, the planning is always part of the fun!

Thank you so very much Elizabeth, I was pleased with the top and it did take me back to our trip to Japan in 2017 and some of the textiles I saw then . Hopefully a return trip later this year. I do love these socks , a naughty Melbourne purchase a while ago.
