Life Lately

Hello everyone , hope this finds all well in your part of the world .

I had been waiting to wear my bright pink coat again but it really had been far too warm , not that I’m really complaining about that , so I took advantage of the coolest day so far and donned it for a drive in the country.

I found this coat on sale at the end of last Winter about the same time as the Barbie movie was making a splash. As I didn’t see the movie that didn’t influence my colour choice. When I showed this coat on the blog last year fellow blogger Sheila (who blogs at Sheila Ephemera) advised me that it is Schiaparelli pink – much better than Barbie pink . Elsa Schiaparelli concocted her brilliant pink by mixing magenta with a small amount of white.

I have always liked but rarely worn pink and black together . Under my coat I wore my much loved Moyuru skirt and a black knit, bright pink tights that I found during my travels last year and Hispanitas shoes .

You know me and accessories , always a must , this time Ted Baker studded gloves , a black heart brooch from a little shop in Paris , long rubber earrings from Dogstar in Brisbane and Cutler and Gross sunglasses that actually have a pink tint in the frames but it didn’t show in the photos.

Life has actually been fairly quiet of late except for a car club morning tea run last Friday , no photos even though I did take my camera , I may have been too busy talking.

I also met up for coffee with a past customer of mine who has become a friend over time. After our coffee we visited Vintage Red Fox , where I broke one of my golden rules , which is to always shop by myself. You really would think at the age of 70 I should know better but I may have purchased something I may not have done so otherwise.  It was an oriental style top that I will show in my next post , opinions greatly appreciated. I also found a rather wonderful velvet jacket and a  linen reversible coat. Fortunately , Tania, the owner and I did a swap with a few items of mine for her to sell.

Are you a lone shopper or do you like a second opinion?

John and I have also enjoyed lots of walks with Raffy around our neighborhood and a lovely bush walk last Sunday.

I also have been a bit under the weather with repeat UTI’s and am now on my third round of antibiotics , it is so frustrating All advice very welcome , I have tried my usual methods but to no avail.

I will finish off with this pretty Sasanqua camellia , the only thing flowering in my garden at present and a reminder that some plants do thrive on neglect.

Joining Gail at Is This Mutton for Wow on Wednesday

Have a good week. xxx

I love pink and black together and your Schiaparelli pink is a gorgeous shade. Always enjoy reading about the accessories you use.
I’m a solo shopper, I don’t like shopping with others and rarely find anything.
Very pretty camelia, an unusual shade.
    Thanks for linking Jill.

I can see you in black and your shade of pink Gail. Glad I’m not the only one that is a solo shopper, we do know our own tastes at this time in our lives don’t we.

Your pink coat is stunning, and indeed I think Schiaparelli pinksounds a million times better than Barbie pink! As an (ex) collector of vintage Barbie dolls and her outfits, I can safely say that pink didn’t feature all that much in Barbie’s wardrobe until the mid-seventies or thereabouts which is beyond the scope of any serious collector.
Anyway, I love how you combined Schiaparelli pink with black to create one of your trademark quirky outfits.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather, Jill. UTI’s are so debilitating! I do hope they get sorted soon! xxx

Thank you so very much Ann , I agree Schiaparelli pink sounds so much better. Somehow I can imagine you and your Barbie collection and the different outfits.

This is such an amazing outfit, Jill! I love the chic yet edgy way you combine things! I do wish I could wear fun sunglasses, but I need prescription ones. I don’t mind shopping with someone else, but I do much prefer being by myself. I’ve found strangers are better at giving opinions…should I need one! I can’t wait to see your new finds!

Thank you so very much Marsha . On the sunglasses I have friends that get their prescriptions put into interesting sunglasses by their optometrist.
I can’t imagine you really need others opinions when you are shopping as you seem to know what is you.

Thank you so much for the mention! How very kind.

This is a fabulous pink jacket, and I love how you’ve styled it, from the stud gloves to the black heart and rubber earrings.

I prefer to shop by myself as a Zen exercise. But I also really love taking people shopping, especially at secondhand stores and helping them discover what wonderful treasures are out there, however, it does take away from my Zen experience and usually I can’t wait to get back to a solo shop.

It was my pleasure Sheila , credit when credits due. I do like the pink back with black.
Glad I’m not the only one who is a solo shopper. What a treat having you showing newbies some of those fabulous secondhand shops in your area.

Hi Jill, I am a new reader. Vix mentioned you when I recently blogged about visiting Launceston.

    I love your pink coat!

    For UTIs, I recommend taking D-Mannose. X

Hello Jess , thank you for visiting , well done Vix. I must admit I don’t know of D-Mannose so I will check it out , grateful for the tip.

I’m sorry, Jill, I missed this post!
I like Sheila’s description. I like Diana Vreeland’s likening of pink as being the navy blue of India. I hate how the cult of Barbie has cheapened pink when it can be so sophisticated and glamorous as you so ably demonstrate! xxx

No need to apologize Vix , can’t agree more on the Barbie and pink thing but I do prefer Sheila’s Schiaparelli pink.
