Hello everyone , hope this finds everyone well and enjoying life in your part of the world.
We arrived home a week ago after 10 weeks exploring France, Spain and Portugal. We had a wonderful time exploring new spots and re-discovering ones we had seen previously. I will , in time, do a few posts on our trip, that is after I sort out the many hundreds of photos I took.
Since arriving home I have been kept busy with a variety of medical check ups , visiting my hairdresser for a long overdue cut , getting my nails done and catching up with friends and family. I also have spent some time in the garden as it is in desperate need of some attention, lesson learned don’t go away for an extended period in the growing season .
I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our trip and the places we visited but the highlight for me was meeting in person four fabulous women that I had connected with through social media. Now I know this gets a bad rap but truly the online friendships you make far outweigh any negatives in my opinion.
My first meeting was with Erica , from the Netherlands , who happened to be touring France with her partner. Erica , whose IG is @ ericaepach, and I had followed each other for many years found we had so much in common , not just fashion but also a love of travel.
We did have a laugh when we both turned up donning our black and white.
My next meeting was with two wonderful and talented bloggers , Penny who blogs as Frugal Fashionshopper and Gail who blogs at Is This Mutton. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of the three of us together, somehow it didn’t happen we may just have been too busy getting to know one another.
This is one that Penny and I snapped in the Ladies when we realised , yes we are the tulle twins.
I met Penny and Gail at the Victoria & Albert museum which was quite a treat for me as despite being to London several times over the years I had never visited. Penny and I met first and we were joined by Gail a little later.
Penny is a member of the V & A and through her membership is able to have a guest to view the special exhibitions . Special they certainly were, both the Chanel exhibition and the Diva exhibition were outstanding and I am so grateful to Penny. The photos I took on the day weren’t brilliant so if you would like to see more of the exhibition Penny did a brilliant post.
The three of us enjoyed lunch together in one of the restaurants .
Thank you Penny and Gail for taking the time to meet me , it was a day to remember and made my time in London extra special.
I also met up with the uber stylish Lupe Castro in Paris. Lupe, on Instagram @mslupecastro, lives between the Canary Islands, London and Paris and is involved in many fashion related fields with sustainable fashion as her passion.
Here we are experiencing the delights at Paris Fashion Vintage ,a favourite of Lupes me in an exquisite YSL jacket and Lupe in Missoni. As much as I was tempted it was out of my price range but the store had the most incredible designer vintage pieces.
This time we donned matching (albeit different sizes) YSL smoking jackets, a memory that I will have forever.
Lupe also introduced me to the Puces de Saintouen ( something that had been on my list for years) , it was massive and somewhat daunting for a first timer but just fascinating with its diversity.
We also enjoyed lunch at a nearby restaurant and talked for ages , swapping life stories.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting my fellow bloggers and Instagrammers as we all had so very much in common . I am often asked by bewildered friends and family as to why I do this social media thing , well the friendships made , be it online or in person make it all worthwhile and add so much to my everyday life.
I also celebrated my 70th. birthday in Paris and had a very special day , the sun even shone after what seemed to be weeks of rain.
As a surprise John had organised a Citreon 2CV tour of Paris, that took us to places you simply would not find on your own , including a Roman Amphitheatre .It was great fun , if not a little unnerving at times as our driver darted through traffic and took some highly dubious routes occasionally stopping to talk to passers by who wanted to talk about his car.
My birthday outfit , tartan Rundholz skirt , Lisa Ho coat , flocked flowery tights and Fly London shoes, that I purchased in Lisbon.
Apologies for not replying to comments and not visiting my fellow bloggers posts while I was away , I did have good intentions .
It is good to be back . Joining , a day late, Gail at Is This Mutton for Wow on Wednesday.
