Hello everyone , hope all is well in your part of the world .
As is my want this post is a bit of a mixture . First up a few shots taken in the charming town of Oatlands that we visited on out trip down to Bruny Island. I was wearing my Moyuru skirt , Pom jacket , Arche boots and beret by Felt Happiness .
On our wanderings we checked out the Callington Mill Distillery that was still a restoration in progress on our last visit. The mill was built in 1837 for two reasons : to legally grind flour and to illegally make whisky. After nearly two hundred years the mill has returned to its original illicit purpose – now perfectly legal of course.
The rather grand new buildings house the distillery as well as a restaurant – it was too early for lunch but we checked out the menu and will return over the Summer.
This is the Callington Mill with the community Parterre garden in the foreground. The dry stone walls in the town are now being restored by a group of 13 local women – a sign on the walls notes that only women have the patience for this painstaking task. (a tongue in cheek comment I suspect.)
I was rather taken with this sculpture of mother stork and her babies in their nest. This takes me back to seeing real ones in southern France on our last trip.
On October 1st. we travelled down to Hobart to celebrate little Hamish’s first birthday. No idea where that year has gone.
He is a dear little boy and quite a character with his own quirky personality shining through.
After the birthday lunch the family headed off to another birthday party , this time a friend of Hamish’s big brother Harry , so with more than a little prompting from me we headed to the Hobart Botanical Gardens to enjoy the gardens at their Spring best.
No idea of the name of this rather otherwordly plant , isn’t it amazing.
We all have our happy places , strolling any botanical gardens just happens to be mine.
A sunny Monday and a drive in the country not too far from home stopping to take some photos with the patchwork of green fields in the background. So far Spring has been a very mixed bag , weather wise, with quite a lot of rain. In fact today as I write our state is experiencing some flooding as a result of the constant recent rain.
My outfit for the day started with a coral Pom jacket worn over a white shirt and paired with my dark blue Rundholz skirt. I added strings of beads , white daisy earrings , white sunnies , floral tights and United Nude shoes.
A close up of the United Nude shoes with their platform soles and red stripe . As much as I like the shoes I am still not sure the sneakers with skirts and dresses is really me. Are you a fan?.
Thats all for now .
Joining Gail at Is This Mutton for Wow on Wednesday (late again) and Nancy for Fancy Friday.
I like the trainers and floral tights with the skirt. I like trainers with skirts less when the skirts are shorter. What a lovely pic of you and Hamish. I always slightly envy you now with the whole of spring and summer ahead of you. I shouldnt complain, we had a lovely summer. Fab outfits, particularly the orange jacket and all the necklaces!
Thanks for linking Jill x

Thank you so much Gail, still on the fence re the sneakers with skirts and dresses for me . Our Spring weather has been very unpredictable so far with a lot of rain , hoping for a warm Summer like yours.
Yes I’m a huge fan of sneakers and skirts or dresses. Think it’s a modern look. Those are cute, we see them everywhere here. And that plant is really special, it almost looks like a bird!

I know you are a fan of sneakers with dresses or skirts Nancy and you wear the look so beautifully.I agree it is a modern look so I will keep trying.
Your outfits are spectacular as always Jill, but I couldn’t take my eyes off those platform soled shoes and floral tights! Simply fantastic, although same as you I am on the fence about wearing sneakers with skirts. Funnily enough, I do think these worked with your outfit very well!
I loved tagging along on your outings. Happy birthday to little Hamish! My step-grandson turned one as well this year.
Hobart Botanical Gardens are a treat for the eye, and I totally get why this is one of your happy places!

Thank you so very much Ann . I am pleased with the shoes , it really was their platform soles that drew my attention . I do remember that your little step grandson is similar age to Hamish. We do share a love of gardens.
Thank you for sharing, Jill, so many beautiful photos and interesting notes. As always, I love your style.
Happy Birthday, Hamish (my own Hamish is now 43 and I still clearly remember his first birthday; time
flies), aren’t grandchildren wonderful?

My pleasure Elizabeth, glad you enjoyed the post.
Nothing like our grandchildren to remind us how quickly time flies and yes they are wonderful. xxx
Love love love your shoes!! I too notice how time is quickly passing through my grandchildren. Wonderful to see this picture of you enjoying your grandson. They do each have their own personalities!

Thanks so much Joni , I am pleased with the shoes but still not sold on them with skirts.
Our grandchildren are certainly a reminder of how quickly time passes and reminds us of our own children’s unique personalities.
I love the other wordly plant at Hobart’s Botanical Gardens and the photo of you and not-so-little Hamish! Happy belated birthday wishes to the handsome young chap.
Both outfits are fabulous but I’m especially loving the flatforms (I can’t bring myself to call them the “s” word, they’re far too cool for that!) xxx

Thanks so much Vix . I was taken with the plant , wish I had taken note of its name.
Flatforms is a much better description I agree and they will be so from now on.

Please never stress about being late Elizabeth, I always enjoy your comments.
I had a feeling the sneaker with everything wasn’t you and I do agree there are many other stylish options. I think the shoes will be worn mostly with pants. xx
