Hello everyone , I am pleased to be back blogging again after a little break. Truth be told it was an unplanned break , due to my camera giving up and jamming on me. After trying various local repair people with no success I bit the bullet and purchased a new camera just in time for a few days away in Melbourne .
It certainly was good for this city loving girl to be back in the big smoke again. Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy the ease of living in a small city but the hustle and bustle of a lively city feeds my soul.
John and I spent time visiting old haunts as well as simply wandering discovering new treasures along the way. I spent an enjoyable Saturday with my friend, Suzanne , who is a stylist and as such is a great supporter of Melbourne’s talented creatives. This time we visited the Rose Street Craft Market where I met and purchased from three clever jewelry designers. We also visited Jude and Fernandina , both very talented clothing designers. Even though I did have my camera , somehow, I was so busy admiring their work I neglected to take any photos. I promise to do better next time
This is the Docklands area looking back toward the city . It was a cool but sunny Sunday morning , perfect just to wander aimlessly.
I took this shot from the steps of the Victorian Parliament building looking down on the city and one of Melbourne’s famous trams . The white haired gent in the foreground is indeed John.
Melbourne is home to many wonderful parks and gardens and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the always stunning Fitzroy Gardens in all her Winter glory.
We also thoroughly enjoyed a visit to the Van Gogh experience at The Lume , digital art gallery. This multi-sensory digital art gallery was a new experience for me and one I would highly recommend.
I had to have a picture taken in the sunflower room display . Van Gogh’s sunflower paintings had a special significance as they communicated gratitude to him. I too am feeling gratitude for this trip as not only did I get to see my friend, Suzanne and our son Callum , his partner , Georgie and their new abode , it has renewed my energy , enthusiasm and creativity (something that had been missing of late.)
Joining Gail at Is This Mutton for Wow on Wednesday and Nancy for Fancy Friday.
Hi Jill
I love your outfits, they bring such a stylish and distinctive look to the blog, particularly like the contrast of the leopard accessories with the black and the leather coat.
Melbourne looks great too, never seen it that quiet before.

Hello Susan and thank you so much for your kind comment. Leopard is always a favourite of mine. I felt at times Melbourne seemed as busy as ever but did notice several changes. A few of my photos were taken on Sunday and it was quiet.
I already missed you! Wow we don’t even have a sunflower room here in the Netherlands. But we do have beautiful van Gogh exhibitions! Good to see you back!

We usually fly to Melbourne as it only takes about an hour , whereas the ferry is an overnight journey. We actually had four leisurely days in Melbourne this trip.
Like you Elizabeth I do dress differently to the norm here too and very much enjoy doing so.
I can understand your frustration with the way many things seem to be going in your part of the world. Travelling with Banksy is a given but may be a bit of a challenge. xx
Lovely shots of Melbourne, Jill. And you, adding class and creativity to the artistic city.
Pleased you enjoyed Vincent, we loved it too.
Stay warm, it’s 17 in Brisbane at the moment, must be less in Tassie. Brr!

Thank you so very much Elizabeth, it was so good to be back in Melbourne again. Yes it is rather chilly here , just taken the dog for a walk , about 8 at present. Always lovely to connect with you.
Glad to see you back, and good to hear you have your enthusiasm and creativity restored. Van Gogh has that ability! I loved the pictures of Melbourne, not a city I’m so familiar with. Your outfit has me salivating as always, I love your style so much. Thanks for linking!

It was nice to see a different city! I need to go to one of those immersive exhibitions in Atlanta: I keep thinking about doing it but never do!

Thank you so much Anna. Melbourne is a city I know well and normally visit a few times a year. The sunflower room was just so colourful it would have been wrong to not use it for an outfit shot.
Sorry to hear about your camera, Jill. I think mine’s on its last legs too, so we took Jos’s camera as a spare on our holiday. Loved tagging along on your trip to Melbourne. I always find it hard taking photos when on a city trip and usually don’t take as many as I usually do … xxx

Thank you Ann , I was rather upset about my camera’s demise as it really wasn’t all that old and entailed an expense I hadn’t planned but rather it happened at home than when we were travelling. Glad you enjoyed tagging along on my Melbourne trip , I am looking forward to doing the same with your UK travels. xx
The digital art gallery looks cool. Love your outfit!
