Spots, Gardens and Memories

Summer has finally arrived here and it is most welcome after a cool, wet Spring. Summer and spots somehow are the perfect pairing for me .

Maybe spots take me back to my childhood , lots of spotted Summer dresses and bathing suits ( it was the 1950’s) . Whatever the reason I can never resist spots and this Moyuru linen top was no exception.

I paired the top with wide linen pants also from Moyuru . The shoes are United Nude and were purchased on sale locally.

My accessories for the day included a Crochetta straw fedora , vintage cream earrings, cream bangles and cream Fendi sunnies. I wore this outfit to meet my friend, Janet, for tea and a catch up on our news as well as a spot of window shopping . I may have found a couple of new to me bangles at Vintage Red Fox, too good to leave behind.

A couple of weeks ago John and I visited the town of Longford to enjoy the annual Open Garden Day. Longford is a pretty town with many historic homes and several were open to the public for the first time. The gardens were so varied from the grand , formal garden to pretty cottage gardens and a rather wonderful sculpture parkland garden a few kilometers from town. Unfortunately my camera played up on the day and I lost several photos. Here are just a few.

I would like to finish this post on a rather personal note as last Wednesday marked twenty years since our  little girl, India , passed away . She was only eight and died after a two year battle with a brain tumour. I admit I found this year rather hard , another milestone has passed .

India was a little character who loved to dress up , especially in pink and was always dancing. We packed a lot in those eight years together.

Isn’t it so sad that such a little girl had to fight a unfightable battle. I’m so sorry that you had to experience that. She must be shining bright in the sky at night!

What a perfect outfit for a Summer’s day. That spotty blouse is a real stunner.
As is that sculpture garden. What a pity your camera played up.
What a lovely and cheeky little girl your daughter was. I can’t even begin to imagine what it must have been like having to say goodbye to her. Sending a big hug your way, Jill. xxx

Hello Gill. Sending lots of love to both you and John on the anniversary of India’s passing. What a beautiful and spirited little girl she looked. It must be of some comfort to know that her short life was filled with dressing up and dancing.
Your outfit is, as always, a delight. The proportions of the wide-legged trousers and huge polka dots on your top are fabulous and the gardens you visited could almost be English. How lovely to be going into Summer. xxx
