Sister Time

Last Sunday my sister, Lyn, and I enjoyed a lovely day together . It was a clear and sunny Autumn day perfect for wandering around the town of Evandale , visiting a flower show and a couple of  vintage stores where I may have added to my vintage glove collection.

Evandale is a delightful little town with a wealth of history in its many restored buildings . It also holds special memories for Lyn and I as this is where we attended primary school. We didn’t actually live here but at the airport nearby as our father worked for the Department of Civil Aviation.

Evandale plays host to the Penny Farthing championships every February , drawing competitors from around Australia . The Clarendon Arms on the corner has a wonderful restaurant where I have enjoyed several lunches with John .

I was rather taken with this cottage with its elegant garden . It isn’t an old building but rather well done I thought . I certainly could see myself living here.

Lyn and I share a love of flowers and always enjoy visiting the flower show , no doubt we have inherited flower love from our  late mother , a life member of the Launceston Horticultural Society that hosts the show. The show has recently re-located to Evandale as the previous venue is no longer available . This is the Autumn show featuring dahlias as well as a variety of other blooms and vegetables.

Isn’t this dahlia simply gorgeous , both its colour and form are quite unique. Unfortunately I have no idea of its name.

Floral art is always a part of the show . I am not a fan of overly constructed floral work but I admire the work that goes in the pieces.

I have recently spent several days seriously sorting my wardrobe as I changed from Spring/Summer to Autumn/Winter. Several items have gone into my donation box and I took some no longer worn items to a recycle store to be sold or exchanged on my behalf.  As often happens during this process you re-discover things you haven’t worn for a while and wonder why not. Case in point this leopard print trench that I wore combined with favourite Moyuru pants , a white shirt and red short sleeve cardigan.

I added a vintage red velvet baker boy cap, Karen Walker sunnies , leopard tights and new red Trippen shoes, a naughty online purchase and so comfy.

Joining Mica for Weekday Wear, Jess for Turning Heads Tuesday, Gail at This is Mutton for Wow on Wednesday, Jacqui for Chic and Stylish , Nancy for Fancy Friday , Suzy at The Grey Brunette.

Art in various forms! LOVE the flowers you shared! I am learning a bit more with my mom here, she has the green thumb and I have contined with my garden this year. Love the cottage as well, and small towns have such character. Sounds like you had a lovely time! Your outfit is fab as always! The mix of red and leopard I love, and wonderful to add to your glove collection.
