Hello everyone , hope this finds you well . Apologies for being missing in action once again due to some minor but annoying computer glitches that hopefully are now sorted.
I have been busy working extra days , as the husband of one of my work colleagues was in hospital , trying to catch up in the garden and I am also doing an online photography course.
My husband John has been on his annual sojourn to Coles Bay on on the East Coast . I jokingly refer to this as his Boys Own Adventure (does anyone remember the books) as it involves camping, kayaking, cycling and bushwalking. As much as I love Coles Bay camping is not for me .
Today we drove out to the National Trust property of Clarendon near Evandale half expecting it to be closed . We were right , the house was closed but a notice on the gate invited you to explore the grounds which is exactly what we did.
Clarendon , one of the great Georgian Regency homes of Australia was built around 1820 by James Cox , who was reputed to be one of the richest men in Tasmanian history.
An avenue of beech trees leads from the entrance gate to the house , I must remember to return to see them in their Autumn colours. We enjoyed a peaceful stroll around the grounds as we had it all to ourselves.
Not the best photo but these tiny pink cyclamens are a nod to Autumn.
A few of the many pretty blooms in the gardens.
I was reminded by a friend that this is the last official month of Summer and we have set each other a challenge to wear items that have not seen the light of day this Summer. This Summer has been somewhat cooler than usual and not suitable for many lighter things.
My outfit today was M. Dainty silk palazzo pants paired with a loose, long blouse and white sling back sandals and a vintage straw hat.
I wore this outfit for the first day of our challenge to work , an Alembika cardigan over a dark grey Paula Ryan dress. After a few days of the challenge I am questioning if there is a reason I haven’t worn some of these things, time for a cull I think.
Joining Mica for Weekday Wear, Jess for Turning Heads Tuesday, Gail at Is This Mutton for Wow on Wednesday, Jacqui for Chic and Stylish and Nancy for Fancy Friday.
And while you may enjoy the last month of summer, I can’t wait for spring to arrive! This was one hell of a long winter with the lockdown for months now. Can’t wait to eat and sit outside and invite friends over for a bbq. We can’t have a ny visitors at the moment, yes one per day. I think there is a reason why we don’t wear certain clothes. But it often feels like such a waist to sell them or give away doesn’t it. Enjoy the rest of the summer!

I can only imagine Winter seeming very long when you are in lockdown. Hopefully come your Spring things will be better. Thank you Nancy I will enjoy the last of Summer.
I just gave my mom two sweaters that I haven’t worn this winter at all. I need to call her to see if they fit her as she lost lots of weight due to chemo and its aftermath in the past 2 years. There was nothing wrong with them but I guess I had too many better sweaters in my closet.
These pictures are lovely: they make me yearn for warmer days where we go explore pretty outdoor places around here. The Indian Mounds have lovely wildflowers in the spring and I plan to get a membership to the historical site so I can go anytime and take pictures.

Thank you so much Mirielle , your warm days hopefully will soon be here. The wild flowers at the Indin Mounds sound wonderful, I will look forward to your photos.
I hope your Mum could wear the sweaters .
Your photography is excellent. So lucky for us to see the pretty summer flowers. Thanks for taking us along! 🙂

Thank you so much Mary , glad you enjoy my flower photos , I do rather like taking them too.
I absolutely hate computer glitches, having just had a major one at work, due to which I had to go in an extra half day!
I’m not much a fan of camping either, but luckily Jos is the same as me. The last time I went camping was when I was in my early 20s.
That National Trust property looks amazing, and yes, those Cyclamen are a sign of impending Autumn. As are those delightful pink Japanese Anemones.
I love the silk palazzo pants worn with the loose tunic. And how unusual is the shape of that cardigan.
There are always items left unworn in my wardrobe at the end of each season, but I usually do some kind of a cull when I do my changeover. Not too drastic though, as I’ve known to have regrets more than once. xxx

Shame about your extra half day Ann, hope things are now sorted. i have a feeling my last camping trip was also in my 20s.
This National Trust property is always one we enjoy visiting in all seasons.
I know I will have a serious cull at the end of Summer as i change over to Winter. Many thanks Ann. XXX

I AM NOT A CAMPING GIRL EITHER!
YUCK……….the only dirt I play in is in the GARDEN!

Many thanks for your feedback Elizabeth , till thinking this one over. I agree with you on the garden. Hope all is well.
That floral blouse is beautiful on you, although it’s a shame the house wasn’t open it’s nice you got to enjoy the garden! 🙂
I like the idea of challenging yourself to wear pieces that haven’t been worn yet – it is a good way to identify pieces that no longer work for you as you have often passed them over for things that work better 🙂
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope that you are having a good weekend, it’s a hot day here today 🙂
