Today’s post is a bit of a trip down memory lane . I am standing on the steps of The Quill and Cane Restaurant , the scene of my first date with my husband, John . My goodness that was a long time ago , 1973 in fact. Back then this newly renovated hotel and restaurant was the best one in town.
Here we are , circa 1973, me with short brown hair and wearing black , if memory serves me correctly this was a long crepe dress with wide bell sleeves. John looking rather handsome wearing a suit and tie .
My outfit also bought back memories . The Moyuru pants were purchased a few years ago to wear in Melbourne to attend the university graduation of my youngest son , Callum. The recycled Scanlon and Theodore jacket accompanied me on my trip to Paris in 2016 . I remember wearing this same outfit , minus the hat and bag , and worn with different shoes to the Museum of Decorative Arts to see the most wonderful exhibition , 200 years of fashions.
I have owned my floral Spencer and Rutherford for many years and it has been with me on many special occasions . When I took it from its place on Sunday I found a ferry ticket inside and discovered it was from 2013 and a trip to Sydney with friends to celebrate my 60th. birthday. The ferry ride on Sydney harbour was to an amazing restaurant for my birthday dinner.
Not that night but the next day enjoying the delights of Sydney harbour.
I also wore my new to me vintage hat that I purchased a couple of weeks ago.
The hat is from the 1960’s , so no doubt has a history of being worn on many special occasions , maybe to the races or a wedding .
Do you find certain outfits evoke special memories ?

I love that picture of you and your husband! Yes, I have certain pieces of clothing especially if I wore them somewhere special like a trip to Europe that evoke memories! Also accessories!

Thank you so much Mirielle , that photo is one of my favourites from that time. Oh yes those special accessories also bring back many happy memories.
Oh that is so lovely! And what a beautiful photo from’73. Oh yes, clothing can revoke memories. Especially to my beloved England. I have it more with coats I think.

That’s so nice seeing you with your husband in 1973 – that’s when me and my husband got together. We met at a fancy dress party! It’s really nice to hear about your memories of things you’ve done and clothes you’ve worn.

I love that photo of you and John from 1973!
Love the shape of your jacket and that wonderfully dainty bag. I love finding forgotten treasures like old tickets in bags – even if they’re not mine, a time capsule frozen in history. xxx

Thanks Vix , I am rather fond of that photo , were we ever that young?. The bag is a bit special to me even though I don’t use it often. I agree it is like finding hidden treasures. xx
I love your trip down memory lane and that photo of you and John from 1973 is just fabulous. Apart from anything else, it shows you always had the most incredible taste in clothes! I’ve been on a trip down memory myself, as on Thursday Jos and I will be married for 26 years and this time last year we were celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary! Where does the time go?
Your outfit is another stunner! Those Moyuru pants are so you, and I’m loving that delightful bag and, of course, the hat! xxx

Thank you Gail, sometimes it is fun to take that trip down memory lane. The Spencer and Rutherford bag is a one I will always keep , even though it isn’t used too much. Always enjoy Wow on Wednesday.
So many wonderful memories! I find I remember a lot about where I was or what I was doing with clothes and that makes it tricky to let any of them go from my wardrobe – I definitely tie a lot of emotions and memories to the things I wear!
Thank you so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are enjoying your weekend 🙂
