New Year – New Intentions

Hello , wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year.

Once again I have been missing in action but this was a conscious decision on my part , needing some R&R after an extremely hectic Christmas , both at work and at home.

Fortunately , I had some wonderful books to loose myself in.

I shouted myself this one by Andre Leon Talley (an American fashion journalist) absolutely fascinating, especially his tales of his early years in the fashion world.

A bit of armchair travel , gifts from my sons and John . Who knows when I will visit these places again but I am happy to loose myself in my books for now.

Christmas day was pleasantly mild and we enjoyed lunch in the garden . My sister Lyn and our youngest son Callum joined us for lunch. Callum arrived back home from Melbourne on December 9th. to attend a wedding and stayed until last Sunday . He is also a runner and competed in three carnivals while here in Tasmania. We last saw him in March in Melbourne on our way to Cuba, it was good to catch up .

Little Harry and his Mum and Dad joined us later in the afternoon. Harry is quite the train buff and loved this train set given to him by his Uncle Callum.

Harry and I enjoying a swing in the park near our home , nothing like a two year old to bring out that inner child in you.

Just before Christmas our washing machine packed it in , so on the first opportunity we headed out to find a replacement. Job done , we headed for the old rail yards for a couple of outfit photos. The wind played nicely showing the volume in my recycled Alistar Trung skirt , it is made from the most wonderful fabric , according to the label from Japan , that reminds me of parachute fabric. I teamed the skirt with an old favourite white Nicola Waite shirt.

Now for my new intentions ( not resolutions , gave up on them so long ago) , these relate to the blog and a commitment to get back to blogging on a regular basis , taking time to organise my posts properly so they are less haphazard . Any suggestions for topics that would be of interest to you would be most welcome .

Thinking of all my friends in the UK as they enter lock down .

Thank you to my followers I so treasure our connections .

Hi and here’s wishing you a very Happy New Year to you too. And yes, we are back in lockdown once again, as we should be – this one will last and last unfortunately. However, it’s lovely to see you out and about – and as for your skirts – they continue to be amazing. I do happen to have some skirts rather like yours and my resolution is that once this blooming thing is over, I must wear these more often on an every day basis.

Keep on with the blog – you are such a role model 🙂

Thank you so much Penny and a Happy New Year to you. Hopefully the current lockdown and the vaccine will have the desired result and you can be out and about in those skirts again.
      Please take care Penny. xx

Thank you so much Elizabeth you are too kind. I have just found my notes , so must practice again.
I am aware how fortunate we were to be able to spend Christmas with our family. I have seen news reports of the current situation in California , it must be both scary and confronting.
Glad to hear you are able to find a small escape. I too thoroughly enjoyed the book and have found and followed him on Instagram.
Please take care . A happy and healthy New Year to you both. xxx

I popped over from Elizabeth’s place. Nice to meet you!

I too have been taking great enjoyment from some of my books, specifically my so-called coffee table books. I never liked that term, incidentally. It seems somehow dismissive of the extraordinary amount of time, attention, and quality that goes into both the writing and of course the photographs. I have been using my art books especially to lift my mood after such a challenging year, and I tend to dig out old issues of Vogue and Elle Decor to lose myself in. So. Much. Pleasure. And such a relief from the current chaos in the world!

Wishing you a healthy and happy 2021 and I will stop by again!

I totally agree with you on the term coffee table books , it does underrate how truly wonderful these books are.Books of any type are always a great escape .
Returning your wishes for a healthy and happy New Year.

Happy New Year from a snowy Britain in lockdown!
Wonderful to read about you being able to visit family over Xmas. the photo of you and Harry on the swings is just lovely.
I love the gingham on acid skirt (the MG makes a fabulous backdrop) and the Alistar Trung skirt looks marvelously tactile, I can almost hear it rustling from here!
Those books look really interesting, great choices! xxx

Love that , gingham on acid , a great description. the Alistar Trung skirt does rustle beautifully. I am enjoying the books , the only way to travel for a while. Take care Vix. xxx

Lovely to hear about your “normal” Christmas with family around. Seems like a distant dream! I love the Alistar Trung skirt – very edgy. I’ve been meaning to read the Andre Leon Talley book for a while. Great to see you back.

Happy new year! Sounds like you had a great Christmas time too, so precious to have that time with family! 🙂

I like the sound of your intentions for this year! I’d like to get more caught up with my posts – I usually schedule them in advance but that doesn’t always happen as far in advance as I’d like some days – I find if I don’t schedule them it’s hard to get time away from the kids to write them up at the last minute, but sometimes I’ve been finishing posts the morning before they post, before the kids wake up, and that’s a bit too stressful for me!

Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a great weekend 🙂
