Hello friends, apologies for being missing in action , sometimes life gets in the way of my blogging.
Since my last post I have celebrated a birthday and so has the blog , its seventh . I started the blog as a challenge for myself as I turned 60 to prove that with my limited computer skills I could do this blogging thing. I didn’t really start with any grandiose ideas and decided to simply write about life, fashion , gardens and travel , all the things that bring joy to my life. I so enjoy the connections I have made with like minded women across the globe.
To celebrate I donned an outfit combining many of my favourite things, spots , black and white, a bangle stack, a statement necklace , earrings, sunnies and a hat.
I have always enjoyed wearing hats and have been collecting them for many years . Some such as this black straw boater are both stylish and practical , while many are just plain fun and a bit of fantasy.
The statement black and white necklace is from Jianhui London , purchased online a couple of months ago. I fell for its design as well as the fact that all his designs are made from recycled , sustainable materials.
The black and white earrings were a purchase in Havana, Cuba on our trip back in March. Every time I wear the earrings I think of the people we met and wonder how they are coping in these troubled times.
I always enjoy wearing playful spots. I have had the black with white spots jacket for many years but this is the first time I have paired it with the Alembika white with oversize black spots pants .
I also added an arm load of black and white bangles . I have been collecting bangles for what seems forever , many are thrift shop finds bought for next to nothing while others are found in local stores or during my travels.
I think my love of bangles can be traced back to this image of Nancy Cunard , the writer , heiress and political activist with her arms laden with bangles from wrist to elbow.
I have also been inspired by many of the women shown in Ari Seth Cohen’s Advanced Style books , website and film of the same name. This fabulous lady is Jean , who along with Valerie are known as the Idiosyncratic Fashionistas from New York. I am a tad bit envious of her bakelite bangles , they are quite scarce here and now fetch big money
Finishing this post with a photo taken in Sydney , where I celebrated my 60th. birthday , making this one of the first photos on the blog.

Happy birthday and congratulations on your Blogiversary, as they say! 7 years is quite an achievement. It’ll be 5 years for me next March. Best thing I ever did – and secretly proud as my computer skills aren’t all that – and I love that I keep making connections with like-minded people.
Your outfit is a triumph! Black and white, stripes, and spots galore! Loving the magnificent necklace and your armfuls of bangles too! xxx

Spots, black and white always such fun to wear. xx
Your spotty outfit is absolutely breathtaking and I’m wild about your sunglasses & necklace!
I’ve got a couple of huge antique tribal bangles which being metal weigh a ton, someone sent me that Nancy Cunard photo and said I reminded her of me – such a compliment!
Like you, I worry about the wonderful people we’ve met over the years in India who have shown us such kindness and hospitality. xxx

Your tribal bangles sound amazing, I can only imagine how heavy they are to wear.
We can only hope that those we have met on our travels are well and coping in these times as best they can. Hopefully you will be able to return to India soon. xxx
