Out and About

It has been a momentous week , not only did I manage to visit my hairdresserfor a trim and reshape (necessary after I cut it myself) but John and I were able to drive down to Hobart (about 180km away) for the day to catch up with my son Zac, his wife Sarah and our little grandson Harry.

Harry with his Mum and Dad enjoying a story before his afternoon nap. I am pleased to say that Harry just loves his books , which is handy as I often turn up with a new one for him. I will admit to a weakness for children’s books , their illustrations are always just wonderful.

On our last visit back in late February Harry had just started walking , now he just runs everywhere and is such a busy little boy.

The setting for today’s blog photos was the Cataract Gorge , a beautiful and peaceful spot on the edge of our city and a favourite walking area.

This little wallaby greeted us and stayed just long enough for me take a quick shot before he bounded off.

Winter has well and truly arrived here so warm attire was a must. Today’s outfit is a combination of favourites , my Moyuru navy and black patchwork skirt , a black knit and a fluffy Rundholz shrug, that would have to be one of the warmest things I have ever worn.Accessories added are long black Dent gloves , Fendi sunnies, black mock crocodile belt (a recycle find) and my navy Trippen boots.

Trippens among the Autumn leaves . I found these boots in Melbourne last Winter and just love them , this is their first outing this year but it certainly won’t be their last , they are so warm and comfortable .

A wallaby! To us here, that sounds so very exotic! I am glad that you got to visit your son and family. We love books in our family and I still have most of my children’s book from when I taught. Needless to say, we have some kids who like to read in the family!

Thank you Mirielle , wallabies are often seen in that area but it was luck that he stayed long enough for a photo. It was so good to catch up with the family. I am not surprised your children love to read, it is so important.

This is so chic Jill! I love this look! The belt caught my eye, I love how it fastens and the feathers, so much texture in this outfit. Love it! Your hair looks fabulous! I may go for a bob one of these years… Love the fur on your shoes too that just adds to this stylish look. The wallaby looks so cute!
    thanks for linking!

Thank you so much Jess . The belt was one of those lucky recycle finds and I just love it . As you know I enjoy wearing black as it highlights different textures. I find a bob always seems to work with my dead straight hair. Always my pleasure to join in your link up.

    Hi Jill

We also walked the Cataract Gorge last year, followed the path next to the water and walked back over the top on the opposite side on our return. Had to have a ride on the worlds longest single span chair lift too.
    Happy memories of beautiful Tasmania.

Great gloves, nice to see them being worn over the outfit instead of being tucked underneath.

Hi Stu, Glad you visited Cataract Gorge and walked both paths , the views are quite different. I will admit I have never been on the chair lift. The gloves are oldies but goodies. Good to hear from you.

Thank you Nancy , glad you like the red hair , after experimenting with its natural tones it will stay red for quite some time. We do share our love of black.

Thank you Tiina , I was pleased with how my hair cut , it was long overdue. As Winter is now well and truly here it was time to play with my wardrobe pieces. I think Harry is a little cute too but I am a little biased.

Jill, the top photo of you is magnificent, the background, your hair, that luxurious tippet! It’s a work of art.
Love your outfit and your freshly done hair. I can’t believe how much Harry has grown, he’s beautiful. His retro print tee shirt is adorable! xxx

Thank you so much Vix . I had never heard the term tippet , had to look it up, must remember this one. I was pleased with how the pieces came together. The hair cut was so needed after my trimming efforts. Harry is such a busy little boy and I agree his is a little cutie but I am a bit biased. xx

It is good that we can visit family again isn’t it. The joy of Winter dressing for me is the different layers and textures. Always a pleasure to join Weekday Wear Linkup Mica.
