Quite a bit has changed since I posted a couple of weeks ago , I am back at work and doing more hours than normal as someone is on family leave. I will admit it has taken a bit of getting used to being out in the world again after weeks of isolation and also getting up to speed with the new safe distancing and cleaning in the store.
Australia has started a three stage easing of lock down , varying from state to state as our Covid 19 infections have remained low and we have good testing and tracking procedures in place.
This was my outfit for a pleasant walk around the neighbourhood on a sunny late Autumn afternoon . All old favourites, my black Moyuru skirt, Sabatini peplum jumper , cropped black leather jacket by Caroline Moore, a red velvet newsboy cap, red gloves from Bilboa, Spain, coloured beads and Preen sunnies.
I have loved seeing the teddy bears in the windows of many of the houses in our neighbourhood. I can imagine the fun families with little children must have going on a bear hunt and counting the teddies.
This house is around the corner from home and the displays change frequently , I loved the possum.
We live in an older area of our small city and there are many beautifully restored houses .
Impatient husband and dog waiting for me to hurry up and finish taking photos.
At present I am also participating in an Instagram challenge #a hat a day for May for Milliners Australia. Each day has a different type of headwear or theme , I am having fun finding the right hat in my collection. For today I have chosen this velvet navy hat from milliner Frederick Fox , who designed hats for Queen Elizabeth. I found this a few years ago at a local recycle store.
The hat topped my work outfit of the day- Moyuru skirt and black knit.
Joining Mica for Workday Wear, Jess for Turning Heads Tuesday and Nancy for Fancy Friday Link Up.
I love the gates in your neighborhood. It is fun to see the different styles of houses too.

Thank you Mirielle , those iron gates really are something aren’t they. We are fortunate to live in an older part of town with some lovely buildings.

The teddy bears provide a distraction for local children in isolation . The idea is based on the book The Bear Hunt and on their daily allowed walk it gave the children and their parents a purpose and some fun, I enjoyed seeing them too.
So true the husband usually does wait for me to get the photo. I have worked in a clothing store but at present I am in a card and gift store.
I am off to read about your garden.
Those houses are gorgeous, looks to me like a bit of a Southern style. Here we are slowly getting back to normal, although I try to wait a few more weeks. I’ll bet it feels strange to go back to ,,normall,,. But it feels good to I think! But we aren’t there yet.

I had been wondering how things were going in The Netherlands, you are wise to be cautious. Initially it did feel quite strange to be out and about again but you soon adjust and most people are self distancing and being careful.
We are lucky to live in an older area with some lovely homes.
Gorgeous outfit, as always Jill. I can’t think of a better person to do a millinery challenge!
Goodness me, I love the houses in your neighbourhood, I’ve just had to call Jon in from the garden to show him. Those gates are gorgeous and that little possum is the sweetest. Aren’t those teddy displays a lovely idea? they must help raise any nervous child’s spirts in these uncertain times.
I know that impatient man face very well, that’s my Jon when I get distracted by interesting houses on our daily walk.
I’m glad Australia is handling the pandemic so well (unlike our country!), it must be odd being back at work though. Take care and stay safe. xxx

Thanks so much Vix , I have enjoyed the millinery challenge even though I missed a couple of days when my hats weren’t right for the subject of the day. As you know exploring your own area walking reveals so much more , funny how you take it for granted.
Hope things are improving in your area too.
That is such a great hat, what a nice find! 🙂 I like the colourful accessories and the pops of red with all the black too!
It’s nice you live in such a lovely area! I haven’t seen a lot of teddy bears around here but our street isn’t easy to get to so it’s not frequently visited – I’m sure there may be some people participating in the bear hunt on the other side of the park but we don’t travel very far past the park now a days!
Hope that you are having a nice weekend 🙂

Thank you Mica , always like a pop of red. We have lived in this area for a long time as its a good area and a quick walk to town. Pity there are no teddies close to your home as your little ones would enjoy them.
