November is a special time of year in our family , a month of many birthday celebrations, starting  with our little grandson , Harry, who celebrates his first birthday .

It seems hard to believe that it is a year since he arrived , where has the time gone?  It still seems like yesterday that we received the email telling us of his safe arrival . A very special day indeed , we became grandparents for the first time and were staying in a castle.

We were staying here at Estoi in Portugal . Needless to say we raised a glass or maybe two to Harry’s safe arrival .

I loved this shot of Harry with his Mum, Sarah. He is a lively , inquisitive little boy and it has been a joy seeing him grow and develop over the last year. We joined his other grandparents for his celebrations.

November is also the start of peak flowering time in my garden. I planted the Guelder Rose tree behind me when we moved into our house . The houses I grew up in always had these trees and I am reminded of my childhood every year. They are also called snowball trees and I have vivid memories of throwing the flower balls at my sister. As you can see the ground also gets covered with snow as the petals fall.

The roses are starting to bloom too. This pretty climbing rose is Crepuscule and kindly co-ordinates with the colours in my Curate cotton cardigan and my hair colour.

Flowers from the garden decorate my kitchen dresser providing glorious colour and scent.

Sometimes, even my plants wear black and white. This Oriental Poppy wears it well.

So do I – wearing black and white gigantic polka dot Alembika pants, black tee and white denim jacket, Preen black and white sunnies, earrings, necklace and bracelets. Taken by the river after an excellent lunch at the River Cafe , Beauty Point.

Joining Patti for Visible Monday, Jess for Turning Heads Tuesday, Mica for Weekday Wear and Nancy for Fancy Friday .

I can’t believe Harry is one! What a gorgeous little boy he is, that smile!
Love your dresser with the blue and white china and both outfits are stunners. I love how your cardi echoes the roses behind you and how you’ve emphasised the jumbo polka dots of your trousers with that fab necklace.
Have a wonderful time celebrating! xxx

Thanks so much Vix. Harry is a dear little boy and the year has flown. The dresser was a 21st birthday gift from John and I have collected the china over many years.

Happy 1st to your Grandson! He is adorable and I love the cake! Did he smash it? I know what you mean about time flying as my nephew is turning 3 and it seems like they just had him! Love your tropical print, the necklace brings out the coral color. Love those sunglasses. I also have the blue and white plates in our kitchen, i collected them for awhile. Beautiful garden flowers against the kitchen wares.

Loving that first outfit with the orange necklace, and how well the roses coordinate, ha! Happy birthday to your adorable grandson!

Hope that you are having a great weekend! We went for our annual family Christmas photo with Santa yesterday, with two kids and a dog it didn’t quite go as planned, ha!

Thank you so much Mica. I was rather pleased with the way my vintage necklace blends with the cardigan.
Your family Christmas photo with Santa does sound quite a challenge , hope they turn out well.
