November is a special time of year in our family , a month of many birthday celebrations, starting with our little grandson , Harry, who celebrates his first birthday .
It seems hard to believe that it is a year since he arrived , where has the time gone? It still seems like yesterday that we received the email telling us of his safe arrival . A very special day indeed , we became grandparents for the first time and were staying in a castle.
We were staying here at Estoi in Portugal . Needless to say we raised a glass or maybe two to Harry’s safe arrival .
I loved this shot of Harry with his Mum, Sarah. He is a lively , inquisitive little boy and it has been a joy seeing him grow and develop over the last year. We joined his other grandparents for his celebrations.
November is also the start of peak flowering time in my garden. I planted the Guelder Rose tree behind me when we moved into our house . The houses I grew up in always had these trees and I am reminded of my childhood every year. They are also called snowball trees and I have vivid memories of throwing the flower balls at my sister. As you can see the ground also gets covered with snow as the petals fall.
The roses are starting to bloom too. This pretty climbing rose is Crepuscule and kindly co-ordinates with the colours in my Curate cotton cardigan and my hair colour.
Flowers from the garden decorate my kitchen dresser providing glorious colour and scent.
Sometimes, even my plants wear black and white. This Oriental Poppy wears it well.
So do I – wearing black and white gigantic polka dot Alembika pants, black tee and white denim jacket, Preen black and white sunnies, earrings, necklace and bracelets. Taken by the river after an excellent lunch at the River Cafe , Beauty Point.
