This mornings weather proved quite a challenge on the blogging front as we were surrounded with thick fog that stayed put until late morning- the joys of Winter.
After the fog lifted and on our way to the airport to collect my sister-in-law we made a slight detour to the river at Evandale. I spent the first twelve years of my life in this area and it holds many memories from growing up at the airport , my father worked for the Department of Civil Aviation , to attending primary school in the historic town of Evandale.
The river behind me was the local swimming hole, although my memories of swimming there are somewhat mixed as I still clearly recall a scary experience of getting into a spot of bother and being rescued by another swimmer- maybe this is why I am not too fond of swimming today.
Summer or Winter , black and white is one of my favourite combinations and today was no exception. The black base of Paula Ryan knit and my still favourite black Moyuru skirt was topped with this cropped jacquard print jacket that was a thrift shop find a few years ago. As much as I like the little jacket it really isn’t warm enough for many Winter days.
The black and white called for pops of red on this somewhat dreary day, so my vintage red cap, black, white and red Preen sunnies , red Ara booties and black and red gloves came out to play.
On a totally different note we are in the very first stages of planning a trip to Cuba next year, possibly April or May.This has been on our places to visit wish list for quite a while. A bit of a back story to our wish list , after John’s retirement we both made lists of places we both wished to visit or revisit . We have quite quite varied interests between us so not all were the same but Cuba certainly fascinated both of us. Mind you it is not a straight forward country to get to from Australia. There are a few different options , entering via Chile, Mexico, Canada which seems silly to us or the USA ( some restrictions) but we are exploring our options. I always enjoy the research and planning stages of any travel plans.
Hope everyone is having a good week so far and enjoying Summer or Winter sunshine.
Regards, Jill.

Oh there is something to look forward too! Cuba sounds amazing! The planning is exiting I guess! Friends of us went a few months ago, they had a fabulous time!

Thank you Nancy , I quite enjoy the research and trip planning , so it is not a chore for me. It is always good to hear of others trips and that they had a great time.
Hi you will love Cuba, we have been a couple of times. If I may suggest have a week doing the sightseeing looking at the UNESCO buildings, then have a week at least relaxing at one of the good hotels, perhaps up on the Cayo Coco.
Love the gloves too, completes a lovely outfit.

The pops of red are marvelous, Jill. And the setting is pastoral and lovely (sorry about your swim incident!). Thanks for coming over to Visible Monday, xox.

Thank you Patti, always my pleasure to join in Visible Monday. The pops of red were needed on a grey Winters day. Despite my swim incident it is a very peaceful spot.
I think that Moyuru skirt is my favorite too, and I love how it works with so many items,
Author
Thank you so much Susan , this Moyuru would have to be the hardest working item in my wardrobe because it does pair with so many different tops.
What a glorious outfit, Jill! Loving the drama of the red accessories. Those boots are fabulous.
We’ve got friends who visit Cuba three times a year, they fell in love with Havana 10 years ago and can’t get enough of it. xxx

Many thanks Vix , always enjoy adding a touch of red. The boots are many Winters old but so comfy . Your friends certainly must have really fallen for Cuba to return so often, it will be a once off for us as the air fares from Australia are on the high side. xx
Hi Jill
If it helps we stayed at the following hotel in Cuba and I definitely recommend it . Hope the link works. Probably not as well to publish the link as always a little nervous about showing it to a larger audience. But that is of course your choice.

I see your in Launceston, Tasmania, we were there in February on holiday, walked the Cataract Gorge and ate at the Metz restaurant. Small world!
