Standing at the crossroads- to what you may well ask- the answer is a little unclear at present but my inner voice is telling me changes are afoot and I have finally learnt to listen to her .
One change I know I need to make is to address the matter of those extra kilos that I am carrying around at present. Several years ago I shed over 23kg following Weight Watchers plan but despite my good intentions some of those lost kilos have found their way back. Time for action, my diet is a healthy one but I know some bad habits have returned. I know exactly what I need to do , cut out those snacks , they may be healthy ones but I don’t need them and be more aware of just how much food is on my plate.
I also need to be way more consistent with my exercise as it is a bit hit and miss . I attend Zumba class mostly twice a week and walk , although not as far or as regularly as I should . It is also time to rediscover my old collection of exercise DVD’s and investigate online exercise programmes. Over the years I have done the gym thing and now know this isn’t for me.
Time to make this happen – not just so that those few smaller size garments in my closet will fit but for my long term health and well being.
This year I also plan to pursue my love of photography and maybe take some classes to take it up a level and learn how to take full advantage of digital editing as other than the basics this is all a bit of a mystery to me at present. I see all these magical images in magazines and online and am in awe of the skills involved. Never to late to learn something new.
Dipping my toe in Winter dressing today with this red vest from Mischa, an oldie but a goodie. It was still warm enough for some Summer favourites , M.A. Dainty Poets blouse and spot Moyuru pants.
I had my M.A. Dainty cross over back vest underneath and it wasn’t until I saw this shot that I actually saw the back view. That will teach me to check the mirror, not that I have ever worn one but it reminds me of a gun holster.
My beloved Trippen sandals came out to play , along with a collection of black and white bangles, Preen sunnies, geometric black and white earrings and a little black hat.
I have been reading a lot lately about the art of dressing and the positive effect it has as we age. I guess for those of us who have always enjoyed the process we are certainly not going down the sports pants and sensible shoes any time soon. In fact I find I am way more open to new ideas and happy to play with shapes and textures and accessories than ever . If it works good, if not tomorrow is another day and another look. This hones my creative side and adds joy to my day. Most of us dress for ourselves and are happy to look different to the norm.
We are off on a road trip to Victoria at the end of the week- that is after a 9 hour boat trip for John and a flight for me- the joy of living on an island. We are starting with a few days in Melbourne , catching up with friends , and some big city time , galleries , possibly shopping is involved as well as a restaurant or two. I hope to post while I am away but you never know.
Joining late again, Patti for Visible Monday, Mica for Weekday Wear, Jess for Turning Heads Tuesday and Catherine at Not Dressed as Lamb.
Your colourful outfits always reveal the creative side of you and are very nice. I totally agree about the positive effect of the art of dressing ( at any age )
P.s.
I have the same problem with my weight at the moment and some kilos to loose, but…how hard it is!
Have a nice day

What a lovely surprise to hear from you Dan, hope all is well with you. So true weight loss is just so hard, best of luck with yours. It is so good for us to keep on enjoying our dressing. xxx
Enjoy your trip Jill. I am with you regards to exercise, I don’t go to the gym, as the atmosphere is dark ( dark paint, low light) and I would rather be outside. We will walk when the weather is nice, I use my home treadmill when it isnt. Our pool will open soon too. Really, it is all about well being and health. Good fo you with Zumba! Sounds like fun.
I love to challenge myself with putting together outfits and it too, satisfies my create spirit. LOVE the red on you and the leather belt is wonderful with this look. As I mentioned, you have the coolest accessories, so the sunnies and earrings get the applause this week too!
thanks for linking!
