Dark florals , a yellow bag and a river , what do these have in common , well nothing really just a happy coincidence. I had chosen the dark floral velvet jacket and added the bright yellow bag for contrast and set off on a drive to take today’s photos. We had arrived at the chosen spot only to discover that I had neglected to put the SD card in the camera , normally I do check but not today. After a short drive to the nearest store , SD card installed , a closer location was chosen by the Tamar River. Note to self ALWAYS check the camera in future.
The dark floral velvet by Kenzo was a special purchase last October in Melbourne , when I met up with several friends to visit the Dior Exhibition. I discovered it at Shag, a recycled clothing store , that was suggested by Suzi a Melbourne local who is also a stylist. I have been waiting patiently to wear the jacket since it came home . I am not really a floral girl but have always held a special spot for dark florals and it is velvet.
Now to the yellow bag , it is made by an Italian artisan maker Desiree Lupi and I must admit I fell for the colour. The bag also comes with a story , I purchased it from Il Pavone , a store owned by a friend that I was also working at on a casual basis. Long story short after a few months the store sadly was no more as the business took a new direction and I was once again retired.
Reflections on the river on a clear Winter day always take some beating. I am not a boating person but I certainly can see the attraction.
Life has been fairly quiet here of late and I must admit to becoming rather lax but I have given myself a good talking to . It is just too easy in Winter to spend the day in my comfy workout gear with no makeup and not venturing out the door. My new mantra is to make an effort regardless , even just to spend time in the garden. Maybe I need to take daily outfit shots to encourage me , not necessarily to post. I will update on that outcome.

P.S. A big thank you for your advice re my commenting issue. Still mulling over changing to WordPress.
You look great Jill! The floral coat is wonderful and the yellow bag is perfect with it! Winter sunny days are so right for a walk in the nature!!
Thank you so much Dan, I am so pleased I came across this floral coat. You are sure to see the yellow bag again in both Summer and Winter. I agree a walk in nature on a sunny Winter day is so right.
Gorgeous backdrop, Jill, for your velvet jacket. I can see why you had to have it, it's a beauty. Love the bag too. Enjoy your day, xox-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Thank you Patti , I am thrilled with the velvet jacket , another recycled joy.Enjoy your beautiful Summer weather.
That bag is great! What a fabulous colour for a bag!
Thanks Nancy , I am always a fan of yellow and loved this yellow and knew it would work with most things in my wardrobe.
Gotta say that coat is spectacular! The bag is a wonderful sunny addition to the rest of the dark outfit. As for your previous post about people being unable to comment I haven't managed to comment on people's blogs for about a year now. I discovered about a month ago that I can leave comments if I use another web browser like Firefox or Chrome. It is a pain though and has stopped me from being as social as I'd like to be. Also I'd like to comment about your desire to shop vintage or thrift…by far and large that is my preference. It allows for so much more creativity. Suzannehttp://www.suzannecarillo.com
Thank you so much Suzanne , I knew the moment I set eyes on this jacket it had to be mine and the fact that it was in a recycle store made it affordable.I am enjoying mixing my vintage /recycle finds with my existing wardrobe and totally agree that it allows much more creativity. The commenting issue is a problem we could all do without. Many thanks for your comments.
You know I've been thinking about thrifting versus buying a designer piece, and while I love my bargains I'm seriously thinking about buying fewer items and going for those skirts and dresses that have serious impact. You know I love that skirt you wear – come the winter I just might push the boat out! Hope you find that equilibrium through the winter months! Here we're just about to experience a 'heatwave' that would be a warm day over at yours! Commenting on Firefox, btw 🙂
Penny , your new skirt may just be the start . I must admit to liking a mix of special pieces with vintage/thrift. As for my Moyuru skirt as you know from the blog it is a favourite and gets lots of wear. Enjoy your heatwave.
Be still, my beating heart! that Kenzo jacket is the stuff of dreams and fits you to perfection. the yellow bag is just fabulous, too. What a pain about the missing SD card. You won't do that again, will you?!The weather's been glorious here and I must admit to tazzing about the garden with my hair in a tatty bun and a pair ancient cut down Levis at least eight sizes too big – it does make getting dressed to go anywhere (even the supermarket) a real novelty! xxx
Thanks, Vix you can see why the Kenzo jacket had to be mine and yes it is the stuff of my dreams. Too right , I will be checking the camera for SD card before leaving home in future.Enjoy that glorious weather. xxxx
That jacket it absolutely glorious and that skirt – wow! I love this look, you've nailed it! xx Maria
Thank you Maria for your kind words, I am thrilled to bits with this jacket and know I will treasure it for many years to come.
This is such a fabulous and elevated ensemble! I adore the rich velvet and beautiful bright colors of this outfit as well. That yellow bag is a fabulous find. There is nothing like yellow to add sunshine to an outfit.❤️❤️❤️Elle https://theellediaries.com/
Thank you so much Elle, totally agree that yellow adds sunshine to an outfit.I am the same as you and adore velvet.
The jacket is a fantastic statement piece, the type of garment that makes the outfit! I'm seriously thinking of getting more of these 'investment' or statement pieces and cut down on basics. I think we all need fewer clothes, but clothes that we truly love.
Thank you Tiina, jackets have always been investment pieces for me and I have quite a collection amassed over many years.Cant agree more about having fewer clothes but clothes we really love.
That is a superb jacket! The colours are great with your hair – and you can build lots of outfits around a piece like this. The landscape in your part of the world is so peaceful and beautiful – the perfect backdrop for those days when there's an SD card in the camera!!!
