Last week we took a short break and spent a couple of days in Hobart , our states capital city. This gave us the opportunity to catch up with our eldest son, Zac , and a spot of retail therapy , mainly window shopping although I did find a useful guide on Portugal for our trip later in the year and the chance to see a French film as part of the French Film Festival.
Salamanca Place is always one of my favourite spots to visit , with its cafes and craft shops and on Saturdays the home of a bustling market. Salamanca Place itself consists of rows of sandstone buildings, that were originally warehouses for the port of Hobart.
My outfit for the day consists of my black leather skirt ( a recycled purchase last year) , a ruffled vintage velvet jacket with the most interesting sleeves (that doesn’t really show in the photos), a spotted top from Marlene Birger, black studded leather gloves, vintage bag, Ted Baker hat and Preen sunnies. The day was rather chilly giving me a good excuse to layer.
I had to laugh at this bronze by husband and wife artists Gillie and Marc titled “Happy Birthday Mr President”- doesn’t it look familiar to bloggers. Gillie and Marc are Sydney based artists who collabrate to create art applying the iconic imagery of the dog/human hybrid to celebrate the powerful spiritual relationship that exists between man and animal.
I rather liked this quote from Marilyn Munro on a plaque on the art work.
” Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and its better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring”.

Elegant in leather, Jill! Love your finishing pieces too. I saw similar bronze sculptures in NYC last year – perhaps the same talented artists. Thanks for linking up, xo-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Thank you Patti , always have fun with the finishing pieces. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the New York bronzes are by the same artists. My pleasure to link with Visible Monday.
Love, love, love your accessories!
Thank you so much Tiina , I know we share a love of accessories and their ability to change an outfit.
On some women, an all black outfit could look boring, but not on you my dear. I love all of the little extra details that make this ensemble yours. Textures and ruffles, unusual gloves and fabulous sunglasses come together to give your totally unique style – brava!Anna x
Many thanks Anna , I always enjoy an all black outfit and adding accessories to ring the changes . xx
