Winter Layers With a Nod to the Great Gadsby

Enjoying Winter sunshine in my Winter layers , with a nod to the era of the Great Gadsby.

The area that today’s photos were taken is Royal Park by the Tamar River , originally the site of a
military barracks . The area was redeveloped as a parkland in the late 1800’s . A boardwalk along the riverside was added at the turn of the century. I can see the ladies dressed in their finery strolling along that boardwalk.

My Winter layers consist of items from my closet that have been seen on the blog over several Winters. I have learnt over the years to only buy what I love and will continue to do so for many seasons to come. The slow fashion movement is alive and well in my closet.
I am wearing a wool jacket from Lisa Ho , an Australian designer sadly no longer in business, Moyuru skirt , Studded leather gloves, furry wrap, hat by Caterina Lucci that I have worn for about 25 years and ankle boots .

Fabulous! I think I will join you on the slow fashion bandwagon, I'm getting a bit fed up with my fast fashion impulse purchases clogging up my wardrobe, and I crave better quality…

Many thanks Tiina . For me now slow fashion is the way to go , I know what you mean I have made impulse buys in the past and these are always mistakes, usually in the quality stakes.

Yes! You do have that 20s vibe! Love the shawl over the jacket! 🙂

Thank you so much Laurie. The shawl is the other half of my long wrap that was cut in two, so much more useful.

It is a gorgeous ensemble, Jill, and I love the sunny pictures! Stunning! You are very wise to be a "slow fashion" kind of fashionista. I think I am a bit of both – I still have some things from years ago, but firstly I did not used to have much stuff, until just recently, and secondly both my sense of style and my size change a lot, so I just have to purchase new things. And since I enjoy experimenting, it works for me now. We are who we are. 🙂 But I hope to build a wardrobe that would serve me for many years to come. With mistakes here and there, of course. Hard to learn without allowing yourself to make mistakes.Lots of love!

Thank you dear Natalia , it was one of those glorious Winter sunny days. I think I became a slow fashion kind of fashionista as the years passed and I became more comfortable with myself and my style. Keep experimenting along the way, that is half the fun. Enjoy your week.

I'm with you on the slow fashion movement, Jill. I also only buy what I LOVE and know that I will love it and wear it for years. Some gorgeous shots here looking every bit Gatsbyesque. xx

Thank you Elizabeth for your kind words. I think the slow fashion movement is the only way , the waste and long term cost of fast fashion is of great concern .I also think as you age you are less concerned with current fashion and simply dress as you please

This is a special outfit, Jill! A little Great Gadsby style and very well mixed! Quality items last long.To be honest I have to admit that the slow fashion idea is good. And I agree with you in buying only what I love. My problem is that I love so many things…too many temptations around!!
