Red is always a good colour to brighten up a dull day.In fact what started as a simply overcast day had
turned to rain as we reached the park by the river for today’s shots.Just as well rain and cold do not deter
us as this has been one of the wettest Winters on record .It also gave me an excuse to bring out the black
vintage muff that I found recently at a local vintage store.
Sometimes on days like this it would be tempting to turn my back on Winter and escape to warmer climes.
One of the draw backs to blogging from the Southern Hemisphere is seeing all the pretty Summer outfits
that everyone up North is wearing this time of the year but the plus to that is I know what is current a
season ahead.Oh and I am in Summer wear as the Northern Hemisphere rugs up for a Winter than is always
so much harsher than we ever experience.
At present I am grapling with the thought of retirement, not really by choice more by circumstance. I think
for me this is the problem , I feel I am not ready as it isn’t my choice.Work gave me a purpose and I need
to readjust my thinking and find new challenges, any suggestions welcome.
A black hat that I purchased in Melbourne last Winter tops my red wool vest , worn over a black wool
jumper and teamed with my Moyuru pants and black tights and ankle boots from Wonders.
A closeup of the details of the muff and my black and white gloves.

Red suits you really well and it is also a good match to your signature black. This is a very stylish outfit to brighten a winter day!I bet retirement can be a challenge for someone who finds work rewarding. But a part of me is a bit envious: my work is OK but it has never given me purpose or satisfaction, and I long to do something more creative (yep, going nack to work next week, notice the level of motivation…). You are a very creative person, maybe this is your chance to do something that makes you happy or learn a new skill.
Thank you Tiina red is always good to wear to brighten a Winters day.I do hope your return to work goes well and in time you are able to fulfill your desire for a more creative outlet.I appreciate your wise counsel I know I will adapt to retirement and will embrace the opportunity to persue some more creative options.
Gorgeous look, and the muff is special. I am navigating my way through retirement, it's a process, just like starting out in the work world was. xox-Pattihttp://notdeadyetstyle.com
Many thanks Patti , I will follow your journey along the retirement path, like all things new adjustment takes time.
Love the red and the black muff! I had a little white one when I was a girl. For my retirement, I could stay at home and craft all day. But if you need to get out, maybe you could volunteer. That can be both fun and rewarding. 🙂
I wish I had your talent for craft Laurie but sadly no , although my garden does keep me busy. Glad you liked the red and black and I know the muff will be well used.
I found your photo on Patti's Visible Monday linkup and wanted to comment on how much I love the shapes and the details in your outfit. I'm a big fan of wearing black and red in the winter. The pants, hat and the muff are especially cool!
Thank you Shelley ,for your generous comments. Red for me brightens up a dull Winter day.
What a stunning look, Jill! The red and black combination is an eye catcher on its own but your personal talent of finding and combining unique pieces together is what creates such stylish and interesting looks.
Thank you so much Olga , glad you liked the red and black combination.I do very much enjoy the search for adding interesting pieces to spice up what I already have.
I totally agree with your comment about living in the Southern Hemisphere and not being able to buy all that beautiful clothes because most of the shops don't ship to Australia. Despite the fact that the winter is Sydney is much wormer then in Tasi, your outfit would still cause a stir here. Love ithttp://lookingfabulousat50.blogspot.com
Thank you Anna , it is good to meet another Australian blogger.
Love the red coat—I think it's a perfect way to add some fun to the winter months!jodiewww.jtouchofstyle.com
Thank you so much Jodie , a touch of red really helps brighten a Winter day.
SO many pretty details here Jill. I love the houndstooth gloves, the brooch and of course the red and black. Boy, I am looking for it to cool down here, as in the South , we are hitting temps of the high 90s. The red looks great on you! Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads tuesday!jess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
I feel for you Jess melting in the heat and humidity.Glad you liked the red and I knew you would notice the Brooch. Many thanks for hosting.
Jill, you look fabulous! Another amazing hat!! I love the bright red over the dark colours, it looks perfect. The muff is unique and I imagine also perfect this winter for you. Yes, here we are in our winter wear (yours far more rugged up than mine here on north coast NSW) but it's so lovely to see all our northern hemisphere friends in gorgeous summer clothes – and to know that very soon our very short winter will be over. But for now, keep your fabulous warm outfits coming!! Stay warm xx
You are too kind Elizabeth and yes the muff will come in handy in our cool Tassie Winters. I agree it is nice to see all the pretty summer clothes and our Winters , even here are mild.
I can always count on you to stun with your headwear and other accessories! Love the red and black. Thank you for sharing with Hat Attack!Since I transitioned from my career in healthcare I have never been more busy. I focus on what I love to do, and that has to do with style, blogging and everything that comes from that. I know it must be difficult if this is not your choice. Wishing you the best during this time of change. xoxo
Always my pleasure to join with Hat Attack, many thanks for your generous comments.I also appreciate your feedback on retirement and know that I will find my pathway.
Dear Jill, this is one of my absolute favorites! What a brilliant combination of shapes, textures and striking color scheme. I have to admit – Fall/Winter in our mild climate (not in Siberia) is my favorite fashion season. I love layering, rich textures and deep colors. Summer is fun and I appreciate it, and at times I feel ridiculously happy just because it's warm and sunny! But! At the same time, I am glad that our summers are mild and short. I am not a hot weather girl for sure, and summer fashion is a bit boring to my taste. :)As for retirement, my dear friend, just take time to get used to the idea and reflect on it whenever you are ready to do so. I think you will find a lot of joy in your retirement years. Though every change is difficult, especially if it isn't by choice. But you are intuitive and you will find your way to enjoy the new stage of life. I would suggest to write a book of course, but it's me. 🙂 You are such a visually talented person. Take art classes. I think you will be an amazing artist, just like you are with style. Such a rare bird you are. There are many possibilities for you. And just enjoy life. Gosh I sound like I am a hundred! :)))))
Dear Natalia, you are way too kind. I am with you about the joys of Winter dressing, you can't beat snuggling up in a warm sweater or feeling fabulous in a Winter coat.I am grateful for your thoughts on retirement and I know in time the new path will lead me on a great adventure.
