Amongst the lavender at Bridestowe Lavender Estate , the lavender in full bloom is a sight to behold,
to say nothing of the wonderful fragrance that permeates the air. Bridestowe Estate is the world’s
largest privately owned lavender farm set on 260 acres in North East Tasmania.
The farm was started in 1921 by the Denny Family with seeds of French Lavender that they bought with them from England.
The fields of lavender stretching as far as the eye can see , are one of our State’s most spectacular
vistas during the peak flowering months of December and January and attract visitors from all
over the world.
The Lavender Oil produced here is exported worldwide and is known to be of the finest quality . The extraction process continues today using many of the same techniques and much of the same equipment
as was used in the farms early days.
To visit the lavender farm I wore a black and white mesh cardigan with a somewhat abstract bright print from Australian designer Nicola Waite that I have enjoyed for many years , teamed with my black pants/
skirt from Moyuru and red wedges and some bangles from my collection.
