Wearing Beige

Beige is usually one of those nothing sort of colours that I tend to shy away from but the shape of
this jacket with its fluted sleeves and flowery buttons with a sparkly centre spoke my name.
The fact that it was in my local recycled clothing store on half price day made it ha no-brainer.
Now every time I see beige, it reminds  me of artist Sue Kreitzman , who was featured in The Fabulous Fashionistas and her motto ” don’t wear beige it may kill you’.

Anyhow I survived a busy day at work despite my wearing beige and called in to visit my sister on my way
home and took advantage of her pretty garden for this weeks shots. We have both inherited our love of
gardening from our mother and share a passion for roses.

I just had to include this shot showing the sparkly centre of the rosette buttons on the jacket.
I wore the jacket over my black Moyuru pants and a black camisole and wore long, dangly earrings and
two bangles and my old Chanel sunglasses.

Joining Patti for Visible Monday

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas

and a joyous New Year.

Some people can wear beige, some even look fabulous in it (like my mother did…). Yout hair still has a bit of a red tone, at least in the sun, and your skin has some yellow undertones, which looks quite nice with beige. So, it really depends on your own colouring. I would never wear beige next to face, but that's because my skin colour is 'pasty-white'…

Wise observations, Tiina , my skin does have yellow undertones so I will continue to wear beige on occasion if the right garment appears. Even though you can't do beige I so admire all those jewel colours you wear so well.

Thank you Patti , it really was the shape and buttons that sold me the jacket, the colour was irrelevant. Merry Christmas to you in sunny Florida.

Yes, I agree. Those rosette buttons are fantastic. Moving into 2016, I am going to try to buy more recycled, used clothing. I'm always astounded by your great finds and love the fact that we can give such beautiful clothes a second home.

Thankyou Marea , I must admit to enjoying the hunt for some interesting items in our rather limited local recycled stores.I agree so much about giving them a new home and a second chance. Good luck with your search, with your keen eye I am sure you will find some gems.

You rock beige, and what an interesting jacket! How lucky you are to be able to wear pale colours next to your face, my skin tone will not tolerate beige. I do love your natural hair colour too, it looks lovely. Merry Christmas!

I guess that is the one advantage of a yellow based skin tone . Thank you I am rather pleased with my hair colour. All my best wishes to you for a Merry Christmas.

Beige is not everyone's cup of tea. I,however, love beige, creams, neutrals. I have gravitated more towards neutrals than bright colors over the last couple of years. Just a change in my taste over time I suppose. Your jacket is lovely. The button detail makes it special.

Well you look quite alive so beige isn't nearly as deadly as we thought. I've always loved neutrals and you really wear this well. Perhaps it is the roses in your cheeks. Fabulous haircut!!

Maybe its the head to toe beige that is more deadly, best to avoid that. I still love it mixed with black or white or cream. Thanks Connie, glad you like the cut.

Beige is anything but dull on you Jill. And that last shot showing the earrings and the detail of the buttons – gorgeous! What a great style that jacket is with those stylish and unusual buttons. I love details like that on garments. A great buy.You always cheer me up when I see photos of you standing amongst flowers in bloom! Beautiful piece! Such artful lines – the neckline, the sleeves, the buttons. You styled it beautifully, too. I adore the earrings. It's interesting how the shade looks beige on some photos and rather gray on others – it's all a trick of light, at the end. I think this jacket is very you, Jill. Your sister's garden is lush and pretty, I can imagine the scent of roses. Merry Christmas to you, my dear Jill! All the very best to you and your family! Warmest wishes and hugs!
