I found this plum coloured skirt at my local recycled clothing store , Return to Splendour , the other day.
I loved its shape and fabric and even though the colour is out of my comfort zone , I rather like it. The fact that it was half price skirt day was a bonus. The brand is Kokomarina , a French brand so you can see why it had to come home.
I have topped the skirt with a wool jacket by Lisa Ho , that I have had for many Winters , a long sleeve black top , black long leather gloves and a dusty pink hat by Helen Kaminski.
A short post this week as we are off tomorrow to Melbourne for a flying visit with Callum, my youngest son
and I seem to have a hundred and one things yet to do.
Joining Jess for Turning Heads Tuesday.
A skirt is a good way to experiment with colours that are not quite 'yours' as you can combine it with something 'safe'. I just love your jacket! It's sort of retro and very modern at the same time. Have a nice trip to Melbourne!
You are so very right about a skirt being a soft option to try a different colour . I must admit I have had this jacket for quite some time and have recently started playing with it again. Thank you Tiina, I am sure we will enjoy Melbourne.
What a splendid skirt! It has an almost Victorian look about it, and I love plum. Your jacket looks so comfy and cosy and that dusky pink hat is divine! Stay warm!
I must admit I am becoming rather fond of this skirt already, I am sure it will get a lot of wear . Thank you , the weather has for us been rather cold and wet so far this Winter so keeping both warm and dry has taken precedence.
I hope you have a great time with your son. I just treasure those moments in life. You look very artistic as usual. I love the way you pull creative pieces together.
Thank you so much Joni, I am looking forward to catching up with my son as I haven't seen him since January.
Love the plum and pink color combo–reminds me of a soft Impressionist painting.
Thank you Marea , glad you liked the outfit. I must admit these are unusual parings for me but I have always liked them.
Everything you wear is so me, ahhhhhhhhhhhh I wish I could have a day in your closetXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Shame you are so far away, we could share.
Another visual feast in that new skirt. Beautiful asymmetry. Isn't it the best when you find something and discover it's on sale?! I hope you have a fantastic time with your son.
Thank you so much Melanie, I agree finding a bargain that you like always a bonus.
You have such wonderful jackets Jill! I am in love with this one, and the palette of plums you have on. Love the brooch as well. I have to think, Australia, winter… as it is 100 degrees here today!thank you for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!jess xxwww.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
I would love to send some Winter your way Jess. Thank you for hosting Turning Heads Tuesday.
It's so hot in my part of the world that it is a bit strange to see you all covered up. Looking elegant as always, Jill! The new skirt is a really interesting piece and partly thanks to its colour. I like how you combined all the garments together, that is your talent – to find unique pieces and then mix them in such a way that they look as if they were originally made for each others.
Thank you for your kind words Olga. I know it is hard to imagine the opposite weather , hoping you are coping with your hot weather. I know this skirt will make many different outfits.
Love this outfit very much Jill. On fleek!!!
Thank you ever so much Elsie.
Oh what a fantastic ensemble again, Jill! You look beautiful! I just love the subtle tones of pink and plum, and gray here – very skillfully done, and the shapes are superb as always! I hope you enjoy your time with your son, my dear!! xxx
Thank you Natalia, the colours are a nice change for me. We did have an enjoyable time with our son catching up on the news.
Plum and pink are great together! A beautiful outfit and, if I can see well, you also have a very lovely makeup in the shade of pink…it suits you so nicely!
Thank you Dan, they are pretty colours. You do have a good eye, to notice the pink lipstick instead of my usual red or orange.
Ooohh, Jill, I'm in love with the classy, beautiful colours at work here. What a fantastic skirt! Anything in dark purples/eggplants/rich plums is an instant hit with me. You really look lovely, sweet lady!♥ Jessica
Thank you Jessica, you always wear these rich colours so very well. I have become fond of this skirt , I can see it in many guises. Your kind comments are so appreciated.
