Last week on a visit to
my local consignment store,
Return 2 Splendour I
discovered this wonderful
coat.
You know how it is,
when something speaks
to you, it must come home
and so it did.
Today on a visit
to see my in laws,
we stopped in the
small town of Latrobe
to take some shots.
This is a popular picnic
spot, known as Bells Parade,
must come back on a
warm summer day.
Behind me on the left
is a bronze of concerts
held here in 1890.
I can imagine the
ladies in their finery
enjoying the music
on a fine summer day.
I have worn the coat over
black , basic layers
and a short sleeve wool jacket
from several winters ago.
The soft, plush feel of the coat
is I`m sure what I fell for,
so warm and snugly.
The fabric reminds me
of a teddy bear, in fact
the sales lady warned me
to be prepared to be touched.
We will see.
A vintage tiger stripe
beret from the 60s,
purchased online from
Poppy Vintage echoes
the plushness of the coat.
Winter clothes have
always been my favourites,
I am sure I will wear this coat for
many years to come.
Spring fashion is starting
to appear in our stores,
the first daffodils are
coming out , is Spring
on its way ?
Not for a while yet
in my area.
I don`t really mind
this winter has been fairly
mild and there are coats
unworn so far.
Taking my winter garb
to join in the mostly summery
joy of Patti`s Visible Monday
and later in the week
joining Style Crone
for Hat Attack
That is the only way to shop, just see what's out there and if something catches your eye, grab it before someone else does.
This is so true Tiina, buy only what you love.
That cost just looks so snuggly and tactile no wonder you couldn't leave it behind. Loving the beret too, you just have the best hats. xx
Thank you so much, it was the soft feel that got me in.
Wonderful coat and hat, Jill. You look so cozy, it makes me long for the cooler weather. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
Thank you Patti, I remember visiting Florida once many moons age, always remember the humidity. Always enjoy Visible Monday.
That coat looks like it would feel wonderful. You have some of the best hats! Debbie @ ilovemylemonadelife.com
Thank you Debbie, glad you enjoy the hats, the feel of the coat is just so soft.
Oh, I love your plush coat! I haven't had a coat like that in years and now I want one. I'm like you, I do love dressing for winter. There are just so many more options! 🙂
Winter dressing is so much more me too. Thank you Laurie for visiting.
I would have grabbed that coat too! I found a black fuzzy coat my first day at the thrift shop where I volunteer but am waiting for winter to arrive. The colder months are my favorite too. As a matter of fact, I would have bought the hat too!
Working at the thrift shop does sure have some perks. Shame you are so far away we could share hats.
Oh this coat is wonderful! I bet you'll be touched. :)) I love your layering. Wintertime is really the best for it! Good to see the park, the sculptures, it all really is beautiful.
Thank you Natalia, the soft feel of the coat is what drew me to it . I`m with you , winter is the best season for lots of layers.
Your warm coat and beret are very nice together and I am sure you will wear them long! The neutral colour of the coat will be perfect with everything! Beautiful layering underneath too…
Thank you Dan, I`m sure both the hat and coat will be worn for many winters to come.
Jill, this coat would have made it spoke volumes to me also. You were one very smart lady to not walk out empty handed, it was speaking your name, perfect fit and personality on you.
Thank you Trina, sometimes an item does just have to come home doesn`t it.I am enjoying a little glimpse of your summer.
Jill, this coat looks and fits like a dream. I can see why it went home with you. And the hat! Be still my heart. Very unique. You have an eye for a great chapeau. Thank you for sharing with Hat Attack!
Thank you Judith, always my pleasure to join Hat Attack and take inspiration from yourself and others to explore the joyous world of hats.
